Our lake this year had been a shell of what it was in years past it hasn't produced the big fish or the numbers like it had in years past. Last night I went fishing with my brother and we got 10 but it was a hard 10 most were smaller nothing over 2 pounds.  We had plans to go again today and I wondered if this would be the day they would turn off.  We had a shad kill this winter and we were really wondering if the winter had done a number on the bigger bass.

We get out on the lake about 8 and start fishing the docks down and after about 5 docks I pull a 5.8 out and we said wow at least we got 1 good bass if nothing else about 2 bass down the way my kvd 2.5 stopped and this big bass comes flying out we get him up to the boat and my brother went to net him and he was to big and fell out of the net...another min later he got off...he was bigger then the last bass I would say over 6....we keep going on our path and put somef fish in the boat....we go to this one harbor and and I lose another 5 to 7 pound bass....about 2 min later something hits the crank like a train and starts tearing off line and I tell my brother this has to be a cat or carp...he doesn't come up and I'm telling my self it's not a bass...we see the fish flash in the water and see it's a big bass...we boat it and it goes in at 6.3.

We then fish another side of the lake and have no luck so we go back across and put more fish in that...with 11bass in the boat we go to he little lake the connects and I have a monster blow up on it and ends up spitting the crank bait...but the bass start feeding like sharks put 4 bass in the boat over 2 pounds in 10 min..then hook a big monster and we get him in and right away know it's bigger then any others and it goes 7.4.......on the way back we fish a section of trees where I hook another very big bass and he jumps and spits it.

I was the best day we have had here in Indiana.

It has been so far this year with such a change in fishing...we had a lot of dead shad when the ice melted and we wondered (I still do) if a lot of the bass had died also...but yesterday they were very much alive.
