Robertqq Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 Hi Guys, First, thanks for all the past help and suggestions. Has really helped me. a. Bought a package of Yammamoto "Flappin Hog" plastic baits. Anyone have any idea what these are supposed to immitate ? Probably not a Crawfish, or it would have said that, i imagine. Just some "generic" looks-good-to-eat kinda thing, or...? b. Also got some 3-3/4 Yamamoto Crawdads. I have had good luck wacky rigging his 4 and 5 inch worm Senkos. For his Crawdad's, and also for the Flappin Hog, anyone have any thoughts on fishing these as a Wacky Worm style, or best to stick with the conventional kind of setup. Both of these are "only" 3-3/4 and 4 inch sizes, so not all that big. Thanks, Bob Quote
Big Swimbait Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 Like most creature baits, I think the first thing they imitate is a craw. I fish them that way. For me, the smaller one as a trailer on a Santone 5/16 oz finesse jig has worked really well. They also work for me on a stand-up jig head. Quote
5fishlimit Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 I was just using the Flappin Hog on Saturday. I t-rigged mine on a 1/0 EWG hook, and used an unpegged 1/8oz weight. It's a great bait for pitching to docks. I also agree with 1201vilbig about using them as jig trailer. It was what I had originally bought them for, but decided to try them on a t-rig. They have a nice weight to them as it is. Compared to the other GYCB products the Flappin Hog is actually quite durable. I got 5 decent fish on one before it was too beat up to use again. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted July 21, 2014 Super User Posted July 21, 2014 I have used them as a tralier but that is one expensive trailer. It does work well though. I mainly use them in same way I would use a lizard. I Texas rig it with a 3/0 EWG and a 1/8 or 3/16 ounce bullet weight. I have also tried with a jig head. Still not sure, if I like it this way. Super User roadwarrior Posted July 21, 2014 Super User Posted July 21, 2014 Very good trailer. Bass seem to like the bulk and texture, they won't let go! Quote
