DelcoSol Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 I have been having a tough time lately. Last year was so different than this year. I am going to take a few weeks off from PWC until the fall. it has been frustrating. Just got a bunch of small guys on Sat. didn't bother to go sun. Quote
HardcoreBassin Posted September 4, 2014 Author Posted September 4, 2014 Yea I'm hearing a lot of that from everyone. I'm glad its not just me. It's been really slow. Hoping once the water cools for the fall it will be better. I might take a shot up to Beltzville one of these days and see how it looks up there. Quote
DelcoSol Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 I have never been to Beltzville. Where is it? I have never been to Blue Marsh either. I have been meaning to try it out. Quote
HardcoreBassin Posted September 6, 2014 Author Posted September 6, 2014 Beltzville is up in Lehighton. You would take 476 up to the exit for Rt 202. It takes me about an hour and 45 minutes to get there. There are some really good spots on that lake. There is a dam with a large rip rap to fish. I always pull smallies out of there. It gets REALLY busy on weekends though with waterskiers and the like. I've never fished Blue Marsh but I hear its really tough fishing there. The whole thing is a muddy bottom. Have you tried Hopatcong in NJ? I've never been but I hear thats a really fun lake to fish. If you have something with a small motor (under 20hp), or have the patience to motor around via trolling motor, you should hit Nockamixon. There are some BIG bass and Muskie in that lake. Quote
Basscat7 Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 You guys need to go south an hour to the Upper Bay out of the Northeast River. Best fishing within the region. Quote
HardcoreBassin Posted September 8, 2014 Author Posted September 8, 2014 You guys need to go south an hour to the Upper Bay out of the Northeast River. Best fishing within the region. Not familiar with the area. Any suggestions on where to launch? Is that where you usually fish Basscat? Quote
Basscat7 Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Yes I fish there a lot, sent you a message. Quote
DelcoSol Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Yes I fish there a lot, sent you a message. Hey Stan. I want to check it out but am worried about if my boat (16') will be OK? I may try to go sunday. Also I will be at your next club meeting with a buddy of mine. Quote
bassguytom Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 I have been catching smallmouth in the Deleware at the Yardley ramp on swimbaits. I have a 12 foot Jon with a 3 hp I run there. It's a nice change of pace. 2 Quote

Also I will be at your next club meeting with a buddy of mine. You'll be fine with a 16' boat. Most days you can run just about anywhere in that boat, just pay attention to the wind, if it starts kicking up head back into the Northeast River and fish the marinas and Northeast creek. Meeting place has moved, sent you a pm. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted September 15, 2014 Super User Posted September 15, 2014 Heard a lot about PWC. Seems like a cool place over there. Saw where someone said fishing has been slow there this year. It's been off in my area of PA this year as well. Had a great spring but it got REALLY tough after May. Hoping it picks back up. Keep posting reports. I like to see what's happening in other parts of the state. Quote

HardcoreBassin Posted September 15, 2014 Author Posted September 15, 2014 Went out on Sunday morning. It was a really cool morning. About 53 degrees when we got on the water, with no wind at all. Then sun came up and the wind picked up, which made for a cold morning on the lake. I caught a few dinks, biggest weighint maybe a pound. The biggest came on a purple power worm, the others came on a chrome and blue lipless crank. My dad caught a nice sized pickeral swimming a tube bait. It was a pretty uneventful weekend. I was out last weekend and the water temp was about 79. Sunday it was down to about 73. I'm hoping the fall bite will start soon!! Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted September 15, 2014 Super User Posted September 15, 2014 I'm in Southcentral PA Quote
HardcoreBassin Posted September 19, 2014 Author Posted September 19, 2014 Has anyone been to Van Sciver this week? Im heading up there tomorrow morning and I'm wondering what the conditions have been like since its been a lot cooler this week. Quote
DelcoSol Posted September 21, 2014 Posted September 21, 2014 I have not and probably will not be able to get out. I was at the flats last weekend with little luck there either. I will probably hit Sciver next weekend. Quote
HardcoreBassin Posted September 21, 2014 Author Posted September 21, 2014 I went out. BCAC had a tourny that I didnt know about. It was another rough day. I think the fall bite will be in full force soon. At least I hope. We caught a few early. 1 on a fluke and 1 on a jig but couldn't locate much after that. Quote
zildjian Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Awesome thread guys, I've been a member at Penn Warner for the last three years. I love it, I mostly fish Sciver, but manor is also a great lake. Thank god it's not just me this season, I haven't been doing to great. I caught a beautiful 5lb largemouth last summer and this summer a 4lb smallmouth. But the numbers just haven't been like it's been from the previous years. My last handful of times out have been awful. Hoping this fall it will pick up. Thanks again for showing me this thread HardcoreBassin, I'll def post on here for now. Few of my bass here at penn 1 Quote
HardcoreBassin Posted September 23, 2014 Author Posted September 23, 2014 beautiful fish! Yea this year has been rough. I'm really hoping the fall bite is on nice and strong over the next few weeks. I'll probably be on Sciver on Saturday morning. Keep us posted with your fish/findings zildjian! - Dale 1 Quote
DelcoSol Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 its amazing how much different the lakes are this year. Last year avg was like 4-5 fish a day avg around 3lbs. Now im lucky to get one. 1 Quote
HardcoreBassin Posted September 24, 2014 Author Posted September 24, 2014 I've only been on Manor once this year. Has anyone heard how that lake is fishing? Quote
zildjian Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Thanks Dale! and I feel ya Delco.. I went out after work yesterday from 4pm-7:30pm Sciver. The lake was completely covered in bright green slime/algae. Fished docks, humps, shorelines, dropoffs. Walked away with a white bass. It was awful once again. I don't get it. Quote
zildjian Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Dale, the reports I see from these night tournaments are insane. These bags are massive. We must be missing something... Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted September 24, 2014 Super User Posted September 24, 2014 where are these reports on the tourneys? I can't seem to find them. I don't live up that way anymore but my dad does and he was thinking about joining the club but it is kind of expensive and he was curious on the quality of fish out there since it has been probably 20 years since he was last a member. Quote
zildjian Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 It's on their members only fishing club website. It is expensive, but very much so worth it if he's a bass fisherman. Beautiful big bass. Quote
