GGerod81 Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 I've been trying to find some. The only one that I know that is within reasonable driving distance is Beltzville. Probably about hour and 45 from you. Cool! I hear good things and bad things about Beltzville. What about the Susky Flats? I hear people do decent down there.... Quote
GGerod81 Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 I really want to take a ride up to Raystown for a weekend, I haven't fished there since 2004, but I remember the fishing being excellent Quote
HardcoreBassin Posted October 7, 2014 Author Posted October 7, 2014 I've never had a bad day at Beltzville. The thing that sucks is its a small lake. If you are there on a busy day expect to get beat around. It is like a big bath tub when it comes to wakes. This time of year it is probably not so bad, but in the summer it is loaded with jetskis and water skiers on weekends. I've never fished the flats, but I've heard good things. I fished Raystown once back around 2000 for Stripers and didn't catch anything but a cold. I'd love to hit there again though. Here are a few of the other lakes I've had my eye on, but never fished. They are all a good drive (3+ hours): Foster Joseph Sayers Lake - Bald Eagle State Park Cowanesque Lake - Tioga County Tioga-Hammond Lake - Tioga County Lake Wallenpaupack Quote
pcmc19057 Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Flats are good fishing, sometimes lots of boats. Cowonesque west and east ends are good, seen a black bear swimming across it last year, what a sight. Tioga and hammond are decent spring and fall Quote
Basscat7 Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Upper Bay ( Flats ) is some of the best fishing within a 4 hour ride. Catch the right tide/weather and you can boat 5 that go 20+ pounds. Go during the week when the pressure is not as bad and you'll catch plenty of 2 - 6 pound bass. Grass / rocks / docks. 15 minute run down to the Susquehanna to catch smallies also. Quote
GGerod81 Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Basscat are you going to make a run down there in the next few weeks. I would be interested in following you down! If not, what ramp would you recommend launching, and is it safe running or are rocks a serious hazard. Thanks for your input Gerry C! Quote
GGerod81 Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Is Beltzville a largemouth lake or are their smallmouth in there as well Quote
HardcoreBassin Posted October 7, 2014 Author Posted October 7, 2014 It is apparently a "LMB fishery" but I've caught more smallies there than anything. There are a lot of deep ledges and steep drop offs. The average depth is 42 feet, deepest point is 126 feet. Quote
bassguytom Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 Try the tidal Deleware first. I know a guy that does very well there for bass. You might be surprised. Use the same baits and techniques as in a lake. It's in your backyard so it's worth a shot. 1 Quote
HardcoreBassin Posted October 9, 2014 Author Posted October 9, 2014 Anyone been to the lakes this week? Im taking a few guys out this weekend. Curious to see what is happening up there right now with the rain and cool nights. Quote
zildjian Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 I haven't been out, but hopefully this weekend. Let me know how you make out Dale Quote
GGerod81 Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 Ill be out both days, was out yesterday fishing humps. Bass are still staging in 10 to 15 ft. Did well running cranks and dropshoting. Quote
HardcoreBassin Posted October 11, 2014 Author Posted October 11, 2014 Well. The weather this morning sucked haha. 53, rainy and windy. Caught 2 nice ones. 1 about 3.5 pounds and the other about 2.5 Both came on deep cranks in about 15 ft of water. How'd it go for you Gerod? Quote
GGerod81 Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Lets just say I worked for it, took me awhile to locate a productive hump but, landed a 5pdr and a 4pdr. I tried jigging and dropshotting but fish wanted the crankbaits. The fish where just swiping at the baits, wish I got out yesterday prior to this front Quote
GGerod81 Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 What end of the lake where you at, it was a Ghost town out there today. Quote
HardcoreBassin Posted October 12, 2014 Author Posted October 12, 2014 All over. I started in upper fishing a few drops. Worked my way down to lower. Was out therr from 7 til about noon. Ill be out again tomorrow morning most likely. Quote
HardcoreBassin Posted October 12, 2014 Author Posted October 12, 2014 Caught 4 early on topwaters. Howd you do Gman? Quote
fowldog Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Just saw this, I'm a member at the club also. Been fishing Manor recently been doing ok on chatter baits and buzz baits mostly in white. A lot of guys fishing pads but I have yet to get any out of the pads. Seems to be more of the wind blown points or down trees. I usually struggle on sciver but hit it Wednesday morning and got 8 between to guys up to 3 1/2 lbs mostly buzzbait and spinner bait, in white. Anybody hit Morrisville lately? Had a lot of good days there in the spring but haven't been over there in awhile. Quote
GGerod81 Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Didn't make it out yesterday, going to go this afternoon. I'm running out to Harrisburg for my trailer, may hit nockamixon on the way home. Quote
pcmc19057 Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 We fished manor bet 10 and 2, water 61, shad everywhere got 1 on the flat near the beams and a small one on spook Quote
GGerod81 Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 Awesome few hrs on sciver yesterday, caught five bass in two hours. Lost a large northern at the boat. Fish are still staging for me, but bite is solid on deep humps. Anyone having luck fishing banks, getting tired slinging cranks all day! Quote
HardcoreBassin Posted October 15, 2014 Author Posted October 15, 2014 Nice work dude! All of my luck has been along banks. But I'm throwing the same thing you have been. Deep cranks or squarebills depending on the bank. I had some decent luck on topwaters early in the AM. I've hit the flat on the southeast shore of lower sciver with topwaters and shallow cranks. That's done pretty well. Deep cranks on the northern shore of upper sciver between the container and the barge. The northern side of the eastern most island has done well too. Quote
bassguytom Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 There are some bass starting to come up shallow. I was out yesterday and got 10 on a swimbait running the banks. It was too windy to fish the humps. Lucky craft pointer 78 is money there when the water gets cold. Quote
