GGerod81 Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Good read Nick, I'VE been focusing on boat control staying right on the drops, Saturday this worked for five fish on jigs. I watched a guy fish 100 yards away and boat five decent bass in ten minutes. Fish still seem deep, most of mine are still being caught in 14plus Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted September 29, 2014 Super User Posted September 29, 2014 4lb+ is big for here, usually get 2-3lber regularly. My impression from other stories I've heard was bigger, interesting. Still wouldn't turn down a day of 4lbers. 1 Quote
GGerod81 Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Went out last night 1630 to 1930. Conditions where perfect, water temperature was 73, light winds out of SSW. Fished jigs from 10 to 24 ft. Shad are out in full force, however no topwater action. This was the first day I was skunked on bass this year, switched over to ultralight and boated some nontarget fish. Has anyone been having success fishing humps? Quote
pcmc19057 Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Went out monday evening 3-7pm. Caught 2 lmb 1 on a spook the other on a rattletrap chrom/bluback. Quote

HardcoreBassin Posted September 30, 2014 Author Posted September 30, 2014 I fished manor What are the details on Manor? Water temp? Seeing lots of bait fish? I tried Manor once this year and haven't gone back since. Quote

Just curious but with it being private and costing a decent amount of cash to join, why only go out once? or are you saying that you went to the other lake instead..... Quote
pcmc19057 Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Water temp 71 Shad everywhere The bass are still not in the pads yet 1 Quote
HardcoreBassin Posted September 30, 2014 Author Posted September 30, 2014 Just curious but with it being private and costing a decent amount of cash to join, why only go out once? or are you saying that you went to the other lake instead..... I've been fishing Van Sciver lake (1 of the 3 included in the membership). I tried Manor early in the summer and got skunked. It was a crappy day all around. Rainy, cold, windy day. So we decided to focus on Van Sciver. The lakes are only seperated by a 10ft strip of land, but they fish COMPLETELY different from eachother. They are completely different lakes. Van Sciver is about 2.5 times the size of Manor and has holes up to 35ft deep. The average depth is probably around 10ft. There are 3 sections to the lake (Upper, Middle and Lower) and depending on the wind, they can all fish as totally different lakes themselves. Manor on the other hand is 20ft at its deepest hole (don't quote me on that) and averages about 5-6 ft. It is a really muddy/weedy lake with TONS of vegetation. Seems like it would be an amazing lake to fish, and it usually is, but it is a high pressure lake. If you're in the mood to flip lilly pads or docks, thats the lake to hit. Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted September 30, 2014 Super User Posted September 30, 2014 i fished there a lot as a kid and i always remembered two lakes. we always said the big lake and little lake lol My dad is still toying with the idea of getting a membership and i hope he does, wouldn't mind fishing there again when i visit home. 1 Quote
GGerod81 Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 Funny thing about Manor is once you locate the fish you can POUND them. In 2004-2005, I had days of 30 plus bass up to 4pds. This year the most I had in a day there was 10 or so. I think the pressure has caught up with the lake a lot . I find myself dropping down too 4inch finesse worms in manor during the summer. I'm hoping the transition to the fall bite occurs soon, these fish need to start eating! Quote
bassguytom Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 I was on Manor. Lots of shad and the bite was slow. I got 4 bass on a t-rigged skinny dipper in the pads. Deep in the pads fished very slowly and weightless. Quote
DelcoSol Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 I have not been out in a few weekends there and you guys aren't exactly making me want to go lol. I haven't fished manor much because of all of the shallow rock piles to kill the prop. Morrisville is an interesting option. Quote
GGerod81 Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 Tom, When you wacky rig senko's are you going weightless or using the VMC peg weights? I have had decent luck on manor with wacky rigs, never tried this in Sciver. I'm going to head out around 12 today and try fishing some humps anyone have any recommendations for depth? I have been fishing from 12 ft to 24 ft recently. I'm going to rig up a Carolina rig today for a change of pace Quote
bassguytom Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 I usually go weightless with a Gammy 1/0 circle hook. Not the octopus circle just the circle I hook up,better with the plain circle. When fishing deeper my son will sometimes use a weighted jig and do ok but I usually go with something else when fishing deep. Good luck out there! Quote
GGerod81 Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Bite was decent today from 1500 to 1800. I found a large school of perch, that where being followed around by some bass. Managed to get five on the day, lost a monster smallmouth, somehow it managed to toss my spro back after jumping three feet in the air! 2 Quote
HardcoreBassin Posted October 2, 2014 Author Posted October 2, 2014 Nice fish! Sounds like a fun day. They moving up shallow yet, or were you fishing humps again? Quote
GGerod81 Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Was out deep, still nothing up on the banks. Spent about an hour flipping wood. Does anyone know where you can get an alignment for your boat trailer in the Philadelphia region? My boat is less than a year old, and my outer tread is gone on my back tires. I suspect under inflation, but I just want to be sure and check the alignment as well. The dealer told me 35 psi would be fine but I'm reading 45 to 50 psi per tire now online! My tires are rated to 50psi cold. Anyone with any input would be greatly appreciated! Quote
bassguytom Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Way to find them! 50 lbs. on my tires also. Quote
HardcoreBassin Posted October 5, 2014 Author Posted October 5, 2014 I went out on Manor yesterday in the rain. It was a WET day. Did pretty well though. I beat around with a squarebill for a few hours. Caught 2 bass, a pike and a catfish. The only fish worthy of a picture was this guy... Quote
GGerod81 Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Hey Guys, I was wondering if anyone had any advice on local spots to fish. I live in Northeast Philadelphia, and have fished Marsh Creek in the past. I'm looking for lakes or rivers without engine restrictions. Any suggestions are appreciated! Quote

The only one that I know that is within reasonable driving distance is Beltzville. Probably about an hour and 45 from you. Quote
