HardcoreBassin Posted September 24, 2014 Author Posted September 24, 2014 Dale, the reports I see from these night tournaments are insane. These bags are massive. We must be missing something... I guess they had a tourny on Sunday. I saw them weighing in some big bags near the main launch on sciver. Odd though because the BCAC site says that tourny was on the Delaware. Maybe a different club? Or do they still weigh in at Sciver? I saw some nice bags being carried to the table there too. Thanks Dale! and I feel ya Delco.. I went out after work yesterday from 4pm-7:30pm Sciver. The lake was completely covered in bright green slime/algae. Fished docks, humps, shorelines, dropoffs. Walked away with a white bass. It was awful once again. I don't get it. What were you fishing? Cranks? Quote
HardcoreBassin Posted September 24, 2014 Author Posted September 24, 2014 where are these reports on the tourneys? I can't seem to find them. I don't live up that way anymore but my dad does and he was thinking about joining the club but it is kind of expensive and he was curious on the quality of fish out there since it has been probably 20 years since he was last a member. Would your dad fish from a boat or shore? There is no doubt that the lakes have a lot of good fish in them. This year has been tough tho. At least for the guys posting here! Like Ziljian said, the numbers on the BCAC tournys are pretty good! Here is a link to their schedule and weights. http://buckscountybass.com/tournament-schedule-and-results/ Tell your dad to join next year! I think the memberships go from March to March? Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted September 24, 2014 Super User Posted September 24, 2014 he would be using a boat. He has a jet boat that he uses for the river primarily but he lives about 20 minutes from the lakes so it would make afternoon quick trips pretty easily done. Quote

bassguytom Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 We were on VanSciver on Sunday and the green huge on the lake is the lake turnover it happens in all lakes but is very noticeable in Van Sciver. We did not get any until after 5:00 pm. I was throwing everything I had with no takers. My son was in the back of the boat throwing 5 inch wacky rigged senko and landed 5 large mouth with one going over 5 lbs. I finally gave in a threw the senko and ended with 3. The big bags that were coming from the BCBA Tuesday night Tournements we're caught on off shore humps. With the cooler water they should be spreading out again. We were on Manor on Saturday and got the skunk. Way too may shad around. That sould be changing also. My best fall baits there are jigs, t-rigged creature baits, lipless and My favorite LC Pointer 78. Have fun! 1 Quote

This front blowing thru will throw a wrench in things too. I'll be out on Saturday morning to give it another go! Quote
zildjian Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Do you guys know if Penn Warner lakes are on Navionics/Lake Master chips for navigation/gps? Quote
HardcoreBassin Posted September 26, 2014 Author Posted September 26, 2014 Do you guys know if Penn Warner lakes are on Navionics/Lake Master chips for navigation/gps? I did a little research on this. I don't think they are on any of the chips becuase it is a private lake. However, 1 of the guys at West Marine in Bensalem told me that someone a year or 2 ago bought new electronics for his boat (down scan/ side scan/ structure scan/ you name it) and mapped/plotcharted the whole lake. I'm sure if anyone knew who it was that did that, they could buy a copy of it from him. But I have no clue who it is haha. As I said, I did a LITTLE research on this. I know that the Navionics app available on phones/tablets, does not have the charts for the PWC lakes. If you come up with anything else on this let me know. Quote
zildjian Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 hahah that guy with the glasses at West Marine told me the same thing last year! He said it was a jockey from the race track that did it. How do you map it yourself? I'll do it myself if I have to lol. With all these updates that these chips keep getting with new lakes, you would think they would map out PWC. Quote
HardcoreBassin Posted September 26, 2014 Author Posted September 26, 2014 haha Yep! Not sure what kind of electronics you have, but there are programs you can use to map the whole lake. Basically you put a blank chip into your plotter and save the lake in there as you make passes up and down. Sidescan helps a lot because you won't need to take as many passes. This is Lowrance's mapping program. http://www.lowrance.com/en-US/Products/Mapping/ It will apparently allow you to create a 3D map of the lake so you can see the contours and structure. Quote
zildjian Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 I have the humminbird 1198, I'll look into this tonight. Thanks man Quote
zildjian Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Humminbird has Auto Chart Pro. I'm going to start looking into this, think this is what that guy was using for our lake Quote
HardcoreBassin Posted September 26, 2014 Author Posted September 26, 2014 Looks interesting. Let us know what you find. Anyone been on the water this week? Heading out tomorrow morning. I'm think the front that just blew thru is going to make it a tough day tomorrow. Quote
zildjian Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 I've been out after work the last few days, not good at all. I might go out tomorrow morning as well. Quote
DelcoSol Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 I'm debating on heading out Sunday. Let me know if you guys get anything sat. The weather has been all over the place so I'm wondering how the bite will be. 1 Quote
HardcoreBassin Posted September 27, 2014 Author Posted September 27, 2014 Not sure how ziljian did, but we didn't do well today. 2 pike, 1 dink LMB and 2 LMB that were smaller than the lures we were using. We hit shorelines and humps with cranks, jigs and flukes. Another rough day out there. The water was 68-70 depending on where you were in the lake and the green algae was thick on the southern ends of the lake. Quote
DelcoSol Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 I am going to Conowingo tomorrow. My buddy's dad got a good one on sciver today but only one. Quote
zildjian Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 today is rough, lake is in full turn over effect. don't see this changing until first week of October. Quote

zildjian Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 4lb+ is big for here, usually get 2-3lber regularly. Quote
