Gambler Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 Hey guy's just joined up here, my names Wayne, this looks like a great site with alot of good information, I hope ya'll dont mind me asking a few questions. Im sure some of them will be quite stupid, but bare with me, im new to tacklemaking. Anyway...im looking for a killer crawdad mold, one that will allow me to make the most lifelike critters possible. I checked del-mart and lurecraft, but did not see anything i liked. Anybody have any other resources for these? A nice alum. mold would be great, but beggars cant be choosers i guess. Any info will be appreciated. Catch ya'll later....Wayne Quote
ominousone Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 You will not beat the mold made by a fellow who's screen name is crawchuck. He's on tackleunderground.com's message board. I'll see if he has a website and get back to you. I know that this guy takes real crayfish and makes molds out of them. They are real nice. Quote
Gambler Posted July 3, 2006 Author Posted July 3, 2006 That sounds awesome! Thanks alot man.... Quote
reelnmn Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 www.littlelures.com That's Crawchuck's website. Are you wanting a hardbait mold or a mold for plastics? Quote
Crawchuck Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 My ears were itching ;D Anything I might say might be considered advertising and I don't want to break the rules here. PM or email might be the best way to proceed with any questions you need answered. I do have some molmaking tutorials over at TU you might want to study if making your own molds is desirable. Thanks for the plug ominousone Quote
senko_77 Posted July 4, 2006 Posted July 4, 2006 if the deal with crawchuck doesnt work out, call Del at del-mart molds. They make INCREDIBLE custom molds. his molds last forever, and the shine that comes on your baits after you pour doesnt wear out over time. There molds are meant to last a lifetime. Give him a call and talk it over with him Quote
ominousone Posted July 4, 2006 Posted July 4, 2006 crawchuck, I'll give anyone props who puts out such nice stuff. Quote

Crawchuck Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 Nah! I've given tutorials for RTV slip molds for hard baits, two piece soft plastics molds from gypsum cement from real craws and frogs. I've been making two piece molds for soft plastics since 1985. You can't get lifelike detail from a tooled mold in aluminum but if that's what you're after then Delw is the man. I don't make molds to sell any more since I've started back in the pouring and the baits will be on my site in a week or so. TU is Tackle Underground A good place for all kinds of lure building. Don't worry if it takes them awhile to warm up to you though p.s. I have some old plaster molds for craws that are still usable and like you say are killer craws! PM me if interested. Quote
