Mattbasscrusher Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 Going to Okeechobee on my own for the first time ever, going with a buddy that's got an older nitro. What's the bite been like? Where they biting? Not asking for specific spots, just a good area to start on my own and get a feel of the big lake. I'll pass on my findings and info on Sunday or Monday. Maybe I'll go back out on Sunday Quote
Bass Commander Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 I'm really inexperienced on that lake but while camping at torry island I was consistently catching 3lbers on green pumpkin trick worms just flipping along the thick slop. This was in late June. Good luck brother. Let me know how you do. Quote

topwaterrob Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 I was gonna say try kreamer but depending on your boat, running from Clewiston could be challenging. Quote
etommy28 Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 last time i was there they were pretty thick around the mouth of Uncle joes, just inside and running north in the reeds. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted July 20, 2014 Super User Posted July 20, 2014 Smashed em over in Pelican Bay today. Nothing over 6, but fun. Mostly everything I caught was on the inside edge of the grass. Had to go pretty far into it to find fish. Beautiful morning today. It was as flat as could be. I ended up bailing early when the switch inside my TM died. 15 dollar part stops an 800 dollar motor cold. 1 Quote
gar-tracker Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 Morning bite is on fire when the sun is cracked up about half way it slows down quite substantially. For fun fishing you may want to consider going out at about 5:00pm till dark. Quote
