For you custom rod builders.  Are these available to purchase yet?  I'm thinking of having them put on one of my MBR843's.

GMAN,

For you custom rod builders.  Are these available to purchase yet?
Yup have heard of them been around for about a year. The REC's are a special nickel titanium alloy.

I don't build with them digs to deep in the wallet for me and my customers..

All I have heard is that although lite and flexible they are very noisy guides and very expensive. Prepping them for wrapping is a chore and positioning them is even worse.

I have seen test's where a triangle file was used for 5 min and almost cut through the recoil while it never made a mark on Alconites.

Also many of the builders that I know only use them on fly rods now, especially the snakes.

Figuring $5.27 for just the stripper guide and $2.78 per single foot out to a $5.55 tip top your looking at about $35.00 worth of guides not to mention the wrapping charges. Then there is the fact that once you have that rod re-wrapped the warranty is shot.

But it is a matter of personal preference. I guess the best way to find out would be to wrap some up and fish with them.

I'm thinking of having them put on one of my MBR843's
For heavier line rods and if money is no object try Fuji SF titanium framed guides with SIC rings, that is what many are replacing the Recoils with.

Good luck on your re-build.... :)

I think these are the same guides used on the GLoomis GLXs ??

If so, the line does make noise going through the guides...it's actually a pretty cool sound.  Kind of like blowing over the top of a pop bottle or jug.
