bassmaster8100 Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 What color lens do you guys use? And do you use more than one? I've heard people talk about using different lens for cloudy or sunny conditions. Also for clear or stained water. Thoughts? Quote
Super User J Francho Posted July 16, 2014 Super User Posted July 16, 2014 I use rose with blue or orange mirror for general purpose. Blue with blue mirror for clear water. Yellow shooting glasses for low light. Quote
papajoe222 Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 I use three different brands of sunglasses for fishing, all from differnt companies. They are all polarized and the ones I use most often are the cheapest. They're Berklely bi-focals with brown lenses. I can still read the display on my electronics with the brown lenses and the bi-focals help when retying. If I'm in the back of the boat, or fishing from shore, I like my Oakleys with the grey lense as they are the darkest. For low light conditions, I switch out the lenses to amber. The other pair I use also have grey lenses, but they aren't so dark that I have trouble reading the electronics. They are WileyX and I'll often opt for them over the Berkleys as they offer fuller coverage of my face. Now if I could find someplace that still sells those bi-focal stick ons, I'd ditch the cheap Berkleys. Quote
Super User slonezp Posted July 16, 2014 Super User Posted July 16, 2014 Solarbat has a multi colored lens called Mossback that is supposed to be the "all in one" fishing lens. I haven't tried them. I have amber Wiley's and they are fine except at sunrise and sunset. I can't see s#!+ 1 Quote
Super User WRB Posted July 16, 2014 Super User Posted July 16, 2014 Dark gray for general all around polarized day light sunglasses, dark amber or copper color for cloudy conditions, no sunglasses for dawn-dusk conditions. Tom Quote

nascar2428 Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Amber for cloudy or low light conditions and dark grey for sunny conditions. 1 Quote
TNBassin' Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 All of my Oakleys have black iridium lenses and are polarized. That lens color offers the best protection from the sun for me. Quote
boostr Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 I seem to like the brown lens, for me it's works good in all light conditions. I have the Reflekt polarised shades, and they have a great warranty service. Quote
GoRavens Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 I bought a pair of cocoons to wear over my glasses and I chose amber. I really like it. Quote

Super User flyfisher Posted July 21, 2014 Super User Posted July 21, 2014 Rose colored polarized are my favorite. I would rather have a lens be a little on the lighter side than on the darker side so i stay away from amber, grays and brown tints. My current glasses are mirrored but i am not sure if it makes any difference really. Quote
Avalonjohn44 Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 I am having a heck of a time finding rose colored polarized/mirrored, and don't want to spend over $100... Anyone have any suggestions? I used to have a wonderful pair I got from BPS years ago, but lost them in the lake last year. Quote
Lake Onslow Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 A big part of my job as a fishing guide has been spotting trout in all conditons, I've used various colours over the years. Amber polaroids for me is by far the best option inall conditions. Cheap brands are OK but the very expensive glasses sometimes give just that superior performance. Quote

You can try Reflekt or Arsenal both brands are under a hundred bucks, and they have some nice designs. 1 Quote

boostr Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 All of Reflekt shades are polarised, and Arsenal make polarised and non polarised. Quote
