BassAddict1911 Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Hey guys , just wanted to throw it out there ... a couple weeks ago in a baseball game I tore my ACL, MCL, and Meniscus all at the same time. Surgeon said it was one of the worst meniscus tears he's ever seen, and the ACL and MCL aren't exactly great either either:) Thankfully I have youth on my side, but apparently there is a chance that I wont ever be able to play baseball again, not to mention all the fishing tournaments I have missed and will miss in recovery. BUT, I'm a firm believer in that God has a plan, so we'll see what happens! I head in for surgery this afternoon. Prayers that I would have a full recovery would really be appreciated! Thanks so much, you guys are the best! Quote
Super User *Hootie Posted July 15, 2014 Super User Posted July 15, 2014 Believe for the best and above all, don't speak anything negative about your circumstances. Hope for, and expect full recovery. Don't let anyone tell you not to get your hopes up. "Faith is the substance of things hoped for". Your hope is what feeds your faith. Don't listen to anyone's horror stories, such as,...well I knew someone who....blah, blah, blah. My prayers and best wishes go with you. Hootie 3 Quote

Super User flyfisher Posted July 15, 2014 Super User Posted July 15, 2014 prayers sent and modern medicine is wonderful thing. Just heed your docs advice and don't do too much too soon. I have friends who have had the same injury and needed total reconstruction and they are good as new, in fact, their "repaired" knee is now their stronger knee. 1 Quote

quanjig Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 First of all, ouch!! I've had 3 ACL reconstruction surgeries, twice for my left knee, once for the right. Being stubborn, I thought I could continue to play soccer at a high level and the results were not what I expected to say the least! Prayers sent your way! My circumstances lead me to become addicted to fishing so I can't believe it was bad that I incurred these injuries!! Make sure you listen to the doc's and your body! It takes time but if you have a positive mental attitude, it's all good. Take care, enjoy the down time with your family and friends! 1 Quote
BassAddict1911 Posted July 16, 2014 Author Posted July 16, 2014 just let me say, this all means the world to me fellas! i'm laid up on the couch now - and thanks to yalls prayers - the surgery yesterday went way better than expected and the doc said that the operation was an extreme sucess:) apparently I was blessed with an extra tough meniscus, so the repair to that was much less invasive that previously thought would be needed, and the doc was able to patch up both the ACL and MCL pretty well. With alot of prayers and therapy there is a chance that I may be able to play baseball again as soon as next year! Look, thank you all again so very much, it REALLY meant the world to me, and I'm convinced that the prayers from all yall caused this surgery to go way better than planned - the doc said it was like a miracle ... that some of the worst tears he's ever seen turned out to be one of the most sucessful operations he's had. i'll tell you this, I definatley won't forget all the support from my bass resource brothers! Again, appreciate it fellas, yall are the best! 2 Quote
quanjig Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Great news! Sounds like you only had partial tears and your doc was able to make the successful repairs needed! Be patient with your recovery and when you get back to playing ball again, pay attention to how you move and cover ground. I found I became a much smarter player when I paid attention to the little things, in other words, play smarter, not harder!! 1 Quote
