bassmaster8100 Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 What line setup do you guys suggest for flipping? Do you use a leader? If so what knot do you use to tie to main line? I haven't done much flipping in the past but have really gotten into it the last 6 months or so and have been using just straight 65 lb braid. What do you guys reccomend? Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted July 15, 2014 BassResource.com Administrator Posted July 15, 2014 I don't use leader. 50lb test is plenty strong for most applications. Quote
BiteFiend Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Only if the water is clear. More often than not, I just go with straight braid. I use a double albright for leaders. Quote
CJV Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 I use 60lb Sunline fx2 for grass and will sometimes bump it up to 80 for the really nasty stuff. Just totally forget about a leader when your flipping. Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted July 15, 2014 Super User Posted July 15, 2014 I use 50lb power pro without a leader... Quote
Super User Montanaro Posted July 15, 2014 Super User Posted July 15, 2014 I will if I'm pitching wood. Braid digs in and fluoro seems to hang on branches less. It also allows the lure to fall better and transmits much more on slack line than braid. I use Albright knot. Quote
Frenchman83 Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Before I have used 50# Power Pro with 15-20# Seaguar Red Label. I connect with an Alberto Knot. This year I tried straight Fluorocarbon with mixed results. Might go back to braid due to less line maintenance. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 No need for a leader here. 50# braid for flipping and maybe 65# for punching mats. or mixed wood cover. Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted July 15, 2014 Global Moderator Posted July 15, 2014 I use 50# or 65# depending on cover...No leader Mike Quote
