CYP Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 Is this something I can just hook to my trolling motor battery or do I need something separate? Space is limited so if separate is there something small I can use? Thanks, CYP Quote
paleus Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 Yes, you can just use your trolling motor battery, if it is 12V (not a 24V or 36V set up). Quote

I guess that depends on the trolling motor. I have my Elite-4x HDI on my trolling motor battery and haven't noticed any issues at all. I have a Minn Kota Edge. Quote

Kevin22 Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 You may consider a sealed lead acid battery for it. A 7ah 12V SLA and charger should be around $20-30 at a battery store. It will weigh less than 3 pounds and will run that unit all day no problem. Quote

I carry the battery and fishfinder (elite-4x) around in a small waterproof lunch box. The battery probably weighs around 5-6lbs and only has a footprint of about 4x6.To be honest, I never tried hooking it up to my trolling motor to see if there was any interference...I had just read not to do so for that reason. CYP Posted July 15, 2014 Author Posted July 15, 2014 Who knew, I had a battery sitting around. Works perfect, just have to go find a charger for it. Quote
