Hey a few years ago I said it was the worst line I've ever used couldn't cast more than 8ft on spinning tackle abrasion was terrible etcetera

Well was at the local shop today that I got it from and he had spools for 8 bucks. He was like Dave we just got these in I'm like I'm not using that crap. But to my surprise he "just got them in/ started carrying them" through discussion he said the line he thinks I'm talking about is Silver Thread and he stopped carrying it around the time I remember trying it out.

So I would like to apologize to you who I said the line sucks. I bought a spool of 10# gonna try it out over course of next few weeks.

10 pound on spinning? You will probably still think it sucks. Been using it since 2000, I throw 6 pound on spinning ... 10 on baitcast, no problem , it's a stiff line at 10 for spinning unless you got ultra soft... Silver thread is a good co- poly too... Who knows.... Hope it works for you.

I've been trying out 12# on my cranking setup this season and it is a pretty decent line for the price point. I use a San Diego Jam knot.  I've thrown some chatterbaits and swimjigs on it as well and so far I'm pleased.  Not the greatest line, but certainly not a bad line.

oh no lol I use 6# on spinning as we'll I'm gonna slap this on a bait caster figured 10# is versatile compared to what I throw normally. In other words wanted to evaluate it with. Something I use a lot which is 10#

Oh it's not soft it says yo zuri hybrid fluorocarbon polymer alloy. 10# 275yards. $8 for 275 isn't bad at all that's around cost of Red Label

The problem with most fusioned lines is manegeability, they are normally thicker than their counterparts and the combination of nylon and fc make them quite stiff so they do not handle well in certain circumstances. 10 lb Hybrid on a spinning reel is like having a rope thick slinky spooled into your reel. It´s a give- take situation, you gain absurdly high tensile resitance and abrassion tolerance but loose smoothness.

The only line that makes me work setting the brakes in my BC reels is P-Line CXX, but hey, when you feel you have just uprooted that dang brush trying to pull a crankbait free and you actually are able to surface that brush and recover your crank all the brake setting trouble dissapears.

Hybrid is a very good line.

That's a great price, red label around here has jumped to 14$

I like Yo Zuri hybrid on bait casters. I think it was Road warrior that posted some info on how it was rated way above its advertised strength. That's why I always used 10# hybrid as it was much stronger than that, plus the diameter was around normal 12# diameter.

Well I'm gonna give it a full unbiased torture test on Candlewood tomorrow and Champlain for 4 days next week.

They are 1 size underrated. So 6# is like 8# and 10# is like 12# and so on. I love the 2# and 4# for panfish. Have not tired the heavier line yet, but I plan to as soon as I can find it for a good price!

I use both Yo Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft and Yo Zuri Hybid and there is a difference between the two.  The big one is how manageable Ultra Soft is compared to the regular hybrid.  Both are great lines.  I have used 10lb for crankbaits on baitcasting gear and 6lb on spinning gear in both types.  I picked up three 725 yard spools of the regular hybrid clearanced out for $4 each a few years ago.

Where's the best place to buy Yo Zuri hybrid now? Had a couple break offs the past 3 nights with Red Label and I'm going back to the Yo.

#4 = 8.5 lb breaking strength

#6 = 11.9

#12 = 19.5

I use ultrasoft #6 on spinning gear, and I use both Ultrasoft and regular on baitcasters, both in the #10 and #12 sizes. I think the line is very good, and have no problems with any. I bought the big spools (4800 yards?) when they were on sale for 22-29 bucks. I am set for awhile. I do use KVD line & lure on both.

Keep in mind, accordiing to Yo-zuri website

#6 breaks at 11.9 lbs

#10 breaks at 16.5 lbs

#12 breaks at 19.5 lbs

Don't be afraid to step down to 10 #. It is slightly thinner and slightly less strong than the 12 #, but casts better and is more manageable. It's actual breaking strength is probably closer to most brands 12# or even 14# insome cases.

It's strong stuff, plain and simple.... My local stores are not carrying it now.... Back to ordering

I have been using Yo-zuri Hybrid for years and for a co-polymer it is by far the best Imo although I have not tried many others....Triple Fish copolmer does the opposite of yo-zuri where they have a #20 that is the dame diamter as #12 for say Trilene XL, so when it comes to co-polymers, never believe what the box says....

  • The breaking strenghs are much more than listed as #6 is actually more like 12 lb test..#4 is almost 9lb test...Yo-zuri has a new line that is softer and I have not noticed that it is any better, but I like it for Flipping and applications when I need a line where I can tie a fast Improved Clinch Knot and not worry about slipping, and a line that is green or in clear and abrasion resistant...It will cast plenty far, just realize that if you are throwing 10lb test, you are really tossing about 16lb, so if you want 20lb test, I believe #12 is the way to go...#20 is flipping gold as it is 30lb plus, abrasion resistant, and almost a braid....I throw the #20 on a round baitcaster for saltwater and big swimbaits and have landed some huge fish 20lb test has no business landing from land.

Here is a good link for hybrid line to understand it better.....

check out this link on hybrid....It shown true lb test as #6 is really closer to 12 and #20 is closer to 30....Great line once you know the true breaking strength, as #4 is 9lb test, so alot of people rarely go over #6 on spinning, or #10 on casting.....

hope that helps...great line for the price and also reliable....You can tie a simple improved clinch knot and be good to go....hope that helps
