Long time lurker, first time poster. Hope this isn't against the rules, but I'm trying to find some good small/independent lure companies that make soft plastics. I'm looking to try something different than the usual yum/Yamamoto/strike king/basspro/cabelas/zoom brand stuff, nothing against them, just looking for something new. Specifically 5" senko type worms, topwater frogs, crawdads/beavers, anything that can be Texas rigged weedless and weightless basically.

A good place to start looking is in the links section of this web site under tackle manufacturers.  There are a number of plastics companies out there, mostly regional.   Perhaps you've neglected some major national brands, i.e Powerbait, Netbait, Gene Larew, Reaction Innovations, Mann's, Gambler & Chompers come t mind right off and I would imagine that I'm forgetting something.

I used to think that having a bait nobody else had was important, that it gave me a significant edge.  I've moved past that idea and my current thinking is that it is more important to correctly present whatever bait I'm throwing than it is to have a unique to me bait.

Don't let my opinions stop your quest though, there are lots of smaller soft plastics companies out there.

Hello and Welcome to BR ~

I've been using Salty Trick Sticks  for several years.

These baits are poured with a very nice "Hook Slot" in them that works well and saves baits.

Good Quality at a Great Price.

Forum rules prevent me from adding the link here, but google SaltyTrick Sticks you'll find them.

Company name starts with an "A"

Good Luck

A-Jay

I buy all my soft plastics from a small manufacturer in Virginia, it is called River Rock Baits. I found them by accident, a tackle shop had some soft plastic jerkbaits I never heard of so I got a bag and I was instantly hooked on them. I looked them up on the internet and decided to try out some more stuff and now their stick worms (senkos) are all I use, they fall very close to an original and it is the first non Yamamoto I ever used that has such a sink rate and movement. I alsu use the beaver baits and the tubes are the softest you'll get, yes, I'm a fan and I'm not involved with them at all, I just really like what they make, a better grade of plastic makes for livelier baits.

You may also want to consider checking out any locally owned, non big-box store type of tackle shops. Many pour their own soft plasics and are really inexpensive. For example, there is a tackle shop right by me that sells a bag of 50 beavers for under $8. Plus the durability is better than most large companies.

Check out Stankx Bait Company for 5" stick baits. Nice article from In Fisherman on this Michigan based company. Also I just picked up some Hawg Jawz from a local tackle store. They are based out of North Carolina. Have not tried them yet.
