FirstnameLastname Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 I have a large 3 person intex raft. It has oar locks, rod holder's, even a available motor mount. My concern is will it pop too easily? I know if I hook it hard it's gonna pop but what if my hook just brushes it? I've talked to another guy today using the same raft. He said he's had no problems and he said he fished drunk with it. Stupid idea safety wise but this means he must have had a few accidents. What do you all think, try it or not? Quote
BiteFiend Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 I bought one of these to fish a farm pond a few years ago. The material it's made from is actually pretty durable. You won't have to worry about popping it due to dropped hooks or setting your rod down with an exposed hook, etc. That said, I would recommend that you carry a roll of duct tape with you to quickly patch it should you puncture it. Be warned though; they are a pain to fish out of but it does get you on the water. Quote
Dyerbassman Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 Throw on a life vest and go! I see people fish out of similar ones a lot. Quote
einscodek Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 If yer lure goes astray I dont think it'd take much to puncture those cheap leisure rafts. Dont get stuck in the middle of the lake when that happens.. youll lose some gear Quote
Inflatable Raft Bum Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 I fish from two different models. I think they fish quite well. A drift sock is a must. FYI any Intex below Mariner 4 or Seahawk 4 is a thinner material. Take a small Oatey Handy Pack of PVC primer/ glue, you'll be fine. Even when i get a leak, its not a day ender, just fish on and fix it at home. Quote
