Was on the lake last night, my battery started fine at the ramp. After I fished my first spot the motor wouldn't turn over. At first, I thought it was the starter, but I changed the battery connection to my trolling battery and the motor cranked right up. A couple questions:

1. What is the best cranking battery, or is there really much difference?

2. Do you charge your cranking battery with your on-board charger, or trolling/accessory batteries only?

Don't know if it's the best but I bought a Sears Platinum this year. Big $$$ battery at the recommendations of others. Great battery but expensive, however I am using it to start my 225 Merc. Opti. So far so good and a lot of power. Motor doesn't even hesitate. I charge all my batteries with the on-board charger by Dual Pro. PS: You will get a lot of opinions on here. You will have to decide for yourself.

X2 on the Sears Platinum. I charge all three batteries with a Minnkota on board charger after each outing.
