Ping Jockey Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Howdy fellas. If any here has ever catfished, y'all will know what I mean by blood bait. My brother's a butcher and we got to talking... would dipping a lure in pigs blood work for general game fish such as pike and bass? Both of us only ever catfished with blood cuz thats a tried n true favorite amongst many of us catfisherman. Lots of baits today emphasize the "bleedin" concept. Would it be good to use it with soft swimmers or worms? What are your thoughts on this? - Rog Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 8, 2014 Global Moderator Posted July 8, 2014 I doubt it would repel them but I also doubt it would make a big enough difference to be worth the hassle, the smell, and the amount of flies you'd have buzzing your boat with a tub of hogs blood in it. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted July 8, 2014 Super User Posted July 8, 2014 I would think that it would wash off the baits pretty fast, but it might cover your scent for a while. Quote
B@ssCrzy Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 I doubt it is worth the trouble because it would wash off so quickly. Quote
Super User Master Bait'r Posted July 8, 2014 Super User Posted July 8, 2014 Blood and a little bacon grease will work great, and also makes a fantastic war paint to psych out your competitors. 1 Quote
