Siebert Outdoors Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Seafoam--it does all that is listed above. I've used Seafoam for years. No problems. Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted July 7, 2014 Super User Posted July 7, 2014 I just don't run ethanol gas in mine. I use Sta-bil Marine for storage. Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted July 7, 2014 Super User Posted July 7, 2014 When I first got my boat, I was told to use Ring Free ( which is a Yamaha product I think) and so that is the only one I've ever used. When I store the boat for the winter, I fill the tank up completely full and treat it with Stabil. My first fishing trip of the year, I try to run the motor quite a bit and burn up 1/4 to half the tank or so. Quote
jhoffman Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Ive read that seafoam is more expensive than ringfree when you look at it on a treated gallons basis. I use stabil marine in mine and ringfree or seafoam to decarb maybe once a year, god bless fuel injected motors as they seem to eat anything. Quote
Super User tcbass Posted July 7, 2014 Super User Posted July 7, 2014 I use Marine Stabil if I use gas that has ethanol. I was told by a mechanic that if you use Stabil any point after your new gas is over 7 days old it's a waste. The gas has already done it's damage. So, if you're going to use Stabil, use it right away when you fill up. I also use Seafoam everytime. Quote

It is BUT, Seafoam is also a preserver, ethernol treatment, and a de-carboner. Use it all the time and there is no need to use ringfree or any other product anytime. Quote
Smokinal Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 You all have me thinking about Seafoam now darnit! I usually use Marine Stabil; do you think it would be bad to use both? Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted July 12, 2014 Super User Posted July 12, 2014 It would be a waste of money. Use one or the other. Quote
Super User tcbass Posted July 12, 2014 Super User Posted July 12, 2014 It would be a waste of money. Use one or the other. Will Seafoam stabilize gas for a year? If not, then Stabil Marine would be good too. Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted July 13, 2014 Super User Posted July 13, 2014 I suggest you closely check out the benefits of Startron. I use nothing else, and add it to every tank of gas. At the end of the season, I park the boat, trim the motor down to drain all water, and forget about it until spring. Come Spring I give the bulb a few squeezes and the motor fires up, ready to go. BG RTR Posted July 13, 2014 Author Posted July 13, 2014 Long Mike - do u use the marine formula? Quote
Mr_Scrogg Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 I mis-read things. Firstly I dont use gas enriched with Ethanol. There are a few places near that sells good old 1980s Unleaded. And more are popping up here and there. And even though I use NON-Ethanol gas, I still use the treatments. Quickare, Quickleen, Quickstor for every fillup. 1oz per 5gal I believe. Quote
