BG RTR Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Thinking of moving my foot control and depth finder to make my deck more comfortable. Where do u guys have things? I'm thinking I want the foot control in the center and the finder to the right on a new ram mount. Quote
Mr_Scrogg Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 My pedal will bw recessed soon. No bow graph here. Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted July 7, 2014 Super User Posted July 7, 2014 Foot pedal right in the center and locator slightly to the right. Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted July 7, 2014 Super User Posted July 7, 2014 I've got a Lower WF 180 and a Maxxum trolling motor. I've experimented with several different pedal locations in the dozen or so years I've owned my boat. I'm left handed and always fish from a butt seat, I very seldom fish standing up without something to lean on. My best pedal location is offset to the left of center and the Lowrance depth finder is set on the top right corner of the deck, out of the way, for the most part. I wear polarized prescription sun glasses when I fish and I have to have the depth finder set "just so" or otherwise I look at it and it is black (because of the polarized lenses I wear) I've tried with the pedal in the center and it just didn't feel balanced. I imagine if I had a boat with a recessed pedal I would get used to it, but I don't have any plans to put one in my boat. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted July 7, 2014 Super User Posted July 7, 2014 I use my foot control in the center of the deck. I fish off both sides of the bow as well as forward. I steer with either foot so center works for me. I have the bow sonar unit in front of the pedal so I can see it equally well facing port or starboard. Some with a recessed foot pedal tray use a bridge mount to have the display centered like this: Quote
Super User tcbass Posted July 7, 2014 Super User Posted July 7, 2014 I have a Terrova and I move my foot pedal around all the time. If I'm fishing from the right side of the boat, it's on the right. If I'm fishing on the left side of the boat it's on the left. Rarely is it in the center. I want to get a new bass boat and if I did I would not want it to have a recessed foot pedal spot. Quote
BG RTR Posted July 9, 2014 Author Posted July 9, 2014 How do u secure the pedal if u are moving it around? Quote
Super User slonezp Posted July 9, 2014 Super User Posted July 9, 2014 Here's mine except I now have an 1198 at the bow instead of the 858 in the pic. Terrova Ipilot Link. The foot pedal is in a storage compartment, I use the remote exclusively. 1 Quote
Super User tcbass Posted July 9, 2014 Super User Posted July 9, 2014 How do u secure the pedal if u are moving it around? I have a carpeted deck. It just sits on top and never moves by itself even in big waves. Quote
