Basspro87 Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 Latlely I've been looking into jig fishing I've never really had much luck with the technique. I've heard how many people like them so I looked around the forums and I'm hearing that the siebert jigs are one of the best. So I'm wondering which styles to you guys think are the best from sieberts Quote
gripnrip Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 My favorite ones are the Dredge Series. The deep throat Owner hook is where it is at. 2 Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted July 6, 2014 Super User Posted July 6, 2014 It depends a lot on the type of cover and structure you fish. The Dredge is a great all-around jig design, but my personal favorite is the Big O: http://www.siebertoutdoors.com/Big-O-Jig_c3.htm Quote
GoRavens Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 I just started fishing jigs because I wanted to learn them. I to went with Seibert from everyone's great reviews. the tournament swim jig were my first ones (fogy and bluegill). They both been producing so my confidence is steady building. Besides they're so versatile. Quote
Basspro87 Posted July 6, 2014 Author Posted July 6, 2014 I was looking at the jigs you guys said and noticed the hooks look like the hook is more vertical than normal. In the pictures you can see the difference. Do you guys still use trailers on the sieberts. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted July 6, 2014 Super User Posted July 6, 2014 Do you guys still use trailers on the sieberts. Always. For traditional jigs: Rage Craw, Craw and Lobster Swim jigs: Rage Menace, Shellcracker and GYCB Swimming Senko Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted July 6, 2014 Super User Posted July 6, 2014 Is sieberts just online Yes and they are a sponsor. Quote
SNK Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 What siebert jig would you recommend for fishing in and around weeds? Quote
gripnrip Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 What siebert jig would you recommend for fishing in and around weeds? Mike has a grass jig. I double that style head as a swim jig. For the thicker weeds or mats, I would go with a punch rig. Quote
Knightiac Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 You're starting with the best - you won't want to use other jigs after you fish his! 1 Quote
Solution Siebert Outdoors Posted July 7, 2014 Solution Posted July 7, 2014 Mike has a grass jig. I double that style head as a swim jig. For the thicker weeds or mats, I would go with a punch rig. Thank you all!! For the weeds I agree with Gripnrip. Use the grass jig or my new Punchin jig. They are real close to the same jig but the punchin jig is in more sizes. Both of those also make a great swim jig. Excluding swim jig presentations my best seller by far is the Dredge Brush jig then the Big O Brush jig for all around fishing. Quote
Super User Jar11591 Posted July 7, 2014 Super User Posted July 7, 2014 My favorite jig head from Siebert is the Brush head. Perfect for throwing into logs and branches (which is what I'm throwing at 90% of the time) but I haven't found a situation where the brush head won't work. Pulls through the weeds easily and even stands up on a flat bottom. Quote
TNRanger Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Just ordered (5) of the Dredge Series brush heads. Cant wait to try them out! Quote
Basspro87 Posted July 8, 2014 Author Posted July 8, 2014 Thank you all!! Thank you I'll for sure put an order in by next week or so Quote
gallowaypt Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 When is it opportune to use the dredge style with the owner deep throat hook over the regular hook style? Quote
gripnrip Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 When is it opportune to use the dredge style with the owner deep throat hook over the regular hook style? gallowaypt, I can honestly say it has improved my hook up ratio. I almost use the dredge series exclusively. Quote
