Out of curiosity... who has gotten to the point in his/her hard bait fishing that they've tossed aside all crank baits in favor of jerk baits?  Anyone almost there with only one or two crank bait exceptions?

I like jerkbaits but I don't use them anywhere close to the same way I use crankbaits.  They serve two different purposes for me.  They aren't interchangeable.

I've learned my lesson with thinking if the fish will bite a crankbait they will hit a jerkbait, although on some occasions i can catch em just as good on a jerkbait if my buddy is using a crankbait but i've been humbled more than i would like to admit with this theory. I am a big on jerkbaits but alot of times in my experience if a good crankbait bite is on they won't hit a jerkbait good

I'm not in that position but when I fish river smallies I am using a jerkbait much more than a crankbait. If I have clear water during the warm months I'll throw floating style jerkbaits before crankbaits but if I'm fishing lakes, it is a lot more cranks but again, clear water will allow me to throw a jerkbait and I will, suspending is water less than 60 degrees and floating over 60 degrees.

In the winter I've actually forgone the use of jerkbaits altogether. Now I will use a shallow running crank with a suspend dot on it. I mainly do this because I suck at working a jerk bait lol. Works great though.
