robster80 Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 headed out with my new pointer this evening and on third or fourth cast got hung in some limbs in the pond. broke my line. jumped in kayak and grabbed a rake foguring i could pull the limbs up outta the water but no luck at all. sorry just wanted to rant a second. may save these things for clearer water Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted July 4, 2014 Super User Posted July 4, 2014 Don't save them for clearer water if that's not where the fish are! The first lucky craft square bill I bought which was like 10 or 15 dollars I lost to a pickerel on like the first five cast..... Quote
SMB101 Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 Know the feeling. Early spring I broke out my new 17.00 dollar ghost minnow lipless rattle bait. 7th cast my braid line snaps on my cast sending my new lure to the abyss. Talk about a bummer. Quote
CJV Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 Don't feel bad I lost a megabass vision 110 this past winter. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted July 4, 2014 Super User Posted July 4, 2014 That's fishing ! Rule #1, never use any lure that you are afraid to lose, you bought it to catch fish not sit in your tackle bag. During the bait run last year I got cut off about 30 times in a few weeks, 2 or 3 of those lures were Shimano waxwings. I hope it happens again this year, because I caught a bunch of great fish. 1 Quote
TrippyJai Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 Don't feel so bad about losing a crankbait that you can replace. We've all been there. What sucks would be losing your favourite crankbait that cannot be replaced. Quote
bmlum415 Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 Wait until you lose something like a deps 250, that hurts then. Quote
je1946 Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 Part of fishing is sometimes losing baits and lures. You know your fishing a jig right because you'll sometimes hang up and have to snap it off, same with any lure, you get snagged or your line breaks. It's just all part of it. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 I lost a couple this spring to pike/musky and one of them was brand new. I hate when it happens but know its going to. Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted July 4, 2014 Super User Posted July 4, 2014 It is common knowledge that, at best, you only have temporary custody of any piece of fishing tackle. Accidents & other stuff can happen, at any given moment any piece of fishing tackle you've got can go over the side, sacrificed to the lords of fishing. Occasionally Lucky Craft lures go on sale. MY local tackle shop had an inventory reduction sale this spring where all the Lucky Craft lures were half price. They don't have any Table Rock Shad Pointers any more and I have 5 new ones. You never know when you will run across bargains. Be ready to bust out your VISA so you can take advantage of sales when they happen. Really, too bad about for Pointer but don't despair, they will make more of them. Quote
Super User webertime Posted July 4, 2014 Super User Posted July 4, 2014 Check your local Dicks, they've got Pointer 78 & 100 models in certain colors for $10.97 in the clearance section PLUS buy one get one for free clearance... So it's 2 for $10.97! I bought 8 Pointer 100's to replace what the Northerns ate this spring. Quote
