Inoah88 Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 What weight rooster tail is the best for all around depth and what weights do you use for each depth Quote
Kevin22 Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 The only time I throw one is when I can see the fish busting on tiny schooling shiners. Usually the 1/4 size on a spinning rod. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted July 4, 2014 Super User Posted July 4, 2014 Take a look at Panther Martin or Mepps, they are much more durable and well worth the extra cost. Goose's tip about bending the blade is the best tip I ever used about inline spinners. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted July 6, 2014 Super User Posted July 6, 2014 I am not sure of the weight but I like the #3 and #4 Mepps. I have a ML spinning reel set up I love to use for these. Just flat out fun fishing. 1 Quote
georgeyew Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 I am a huge fan of inline spinners. I started out with the 1/4 sizes but now I am throwing bigger ones 1/2 and 5/8 ones because the large and little fish will still hit those sizes. I mainly use Panther Martin and the Blue Fox. The other day I just caught a 5lb snakehead on one. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 7, 2014 Global Moderator Posted July 7, 2014 I like the #3 Mepp's, however much they weigh, probably around a 1/4oz. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted July 7, 2014 Super User Posted July 7, 2014 I never had any luck with rooster tails until I started using the 1/16 size. I just cast it out and let it sink. Quote
Gabe101 Posted May 31, 2019 Posted May 31, 2019 Do you use weights on rooster tails I’m new to fishing and don’t know what to use Quote
Super User J Francho Posted May 31, 2019 Super User Posted May 31, 2019 Fourscore and five years ago.... Roostertails are sold in different weights. They get bigger as you go up in weight. Quote

Super User Scott F Posted May 31, 2019 Super User Posted May 31, 2019 Rooster Tails have a habit where the blade doesn’t spin without a tug when you start reeling. I found the Rooster Tail Vibric to be a better more reliable lure. Theses days, I only use #4 Mepps, without the squirrel tails, for bass at least. 1 Quote
greentrout Posted May 31, 2019 Posted May 31, 2019 super rooster tail ... ponds and creeks ... 1/4 1/6 1/8... the 1/6 can fool you ... 1 Quote

deadadrift89 Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 Check out Panther Martin also if your thinking inline spinner. They are much better quality than Rooster Tails Quote
