OroBass Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 I'd like to start fishing the rage tail products. What weighted hooks do you guys recommend to start. Specific brand size and weight please. Quote
livetofish28 Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 You don't have to fish the rage rig with rage tail products. I texas rig 95% of the time for rage rigging i use mustad power lock plus with the adjustable weight tight lines Andrew Quote
Mr_Scrogg Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 http://www.wincoscustomlures.com/Yesterday/html/reduced_snagjigs.html I use these. Great hooks, great guy to buy from Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted July 3, 2014 Super User Posted July 3, 2014 These were developed specifically for the rage rig: http://www.moanerhooks.com/the-stroker-hook/ I peg a weight to a texas rig'd rage product more often than not though. Quote
David D. Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 I use Owner Twistlock hooks when I am Rage Righing them. But as has been said, you don't have to Rage Rig a Rage Tail bait. Similarly to Andrew, I also T-rig them the majority of the time that I fish them. Quote
VegasFishing Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 I use Gamakatsu superline weighted springlock in 3/0 & 4/0 1/16oz. I'll rig paca craws, brush hogs, super flukes, and beaver baits with them. Quote
OroBass Posted July 3, 2014 Author Posted July 3, 2014 I have ewg hooks and some owner ultra heads. I guess my question was will any weighted swim bait hook work. Quote
Big-O Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 I prefer hooks that have the weight positioned further back on the hook bend to allow a more horizontal fall. Several years back, I assisted in the design of the Moaner Hooks "Weighted Stroker" which is an EWG style and the "Weighted Stick'r" where an EWG isn't necessary, but more of a flippin style hook is better suited for use with smaller dia baits. Sizes from 2/0 up to 6/0. Weight is a Hydro dynamic design, no shoulders at either end to avoid grass drag. Medium dia wire for more ease of hooksets when using Fluoro for the slower bottom bumping presentations, yet a strong enough wire to hold bigger fish. I'm not sponsored by them and nor have I ever received any financial benefits for my assistance... I just needed Hooks that worked Correctly for my style of fishing Quote

moguy1973 Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 I found some on ebay that have Gamy hooks and are way cheaper than any you can buy at a store...I think I got them for like $.62 each. Work just like any of the name brand ones. Quote
