Finnz922 Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Looking for the good and the bad. I own the Bub's Punch rod in the G2 and love it. I plan on picking up a couple with the Independence Day discount if there is one at TW. I would like to hear your opinions on them and also if you could compare them to other brands that would be great. Thanks. I'm not looking for what rod to buy for a certain technique but what you thought of the rods; quality, sensitivity, versatility, overall feel, and likely hood to buy again? Those type of things. dam0007 Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 You own one but want opinions on the rod you own??? I'm lost. Genesis 2 rods are pretty awesome for the money Quote
Finnz922 Posted July 1, 2014 Author Posted July 1, 2014 You own one but want opinions on the rod you own??? I'm lost. Genesis 2 rods are pretty awesome for the money Own one and it is a heavy punch rod. Just because it's a good rod doesn't necessarily mean they all are. No stores carry them so I figured I would ask how others like them hoping to get some insight on the rest of the lineup and see if it would be worth it to buy a couple more. Not sure why it's confusing. Which ones do you own and how are they holding up? Have you had to deal with their warranty yet? Like I said, I don't have access to just go to the local tackle shop to check one out. Quote
dam0007 Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 I see I see. I own the Fred's magic stick. It's a frog rod but bought it for deep structure fishing with football head jigs. Over the past week used it for swim jigs, flipping brush hogs with oz and a half weights, pitching and jumbo spinner bait. It excelled at everything. It is no BS the most versatile rod I own and have ever used. I plan on buying a few more as dedicated flipping and pitching rods. Jigs and Texas rigs. On a side note 2 things I don't like about it. The trigger has a rough seam down the middle, I plan on sanding it down a little bit to smooth it out. Second is there is no butt cap what so ever, so extra caution is needed when resting it down. If they didn't take those 2 short cuts they could easily charge 250-300 for the rod and it would still be a good. Quote
dam0007 Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Also forgot to mention the handle section is longer than other brands so it can tuck nicely to your elbow. This makes it more like a 7'3 rod in what your actually using up top. That's a HUGE plus in my book. Love the 13s but the short handle area ticks me off for some tasks. Quote

Smallmouth Hunter Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Haven't seen one bad review for these Irods... Makes me wonder why they haven't taken off like 13 did. 1 Quote
JGBassinAL Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Haven't seen one bad review for these Irods... Makes me wonder why they haven't taken off like 13 did. I have had both in the past and honestly the Irod Genesis II was a better rod in my opinion. Slight nod in sensitivity to the Irod and just a little better quality control. Plus both ***'s I had snapped about 6 inches from the tip. Quote

Big Swimbait Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 I use the *** Blacks but did pick up an irod 754 Fred's Frog Rod on Craigslist for $50.00 to try. Glad I did - as others have said it is a very versatile stick Quote
