Lucky Craft Man Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Well, this isn't exactly a frog, but it is in the hollow bodied topwater family. I am a huge fan of the Koppers Live Target Field Mouse. I can cast this sucker a mile, walks the dog well, and when that rubbery tail is dangling in a hole through the lily pads, those bass explode on it. Just a great lure. 1 Quote

I am a huge fan of the Koppers Live Target Field Mouse. I can cast this sucker a mile, walks the dog well, and when that rubbery tail is dangling in a hole through the lily pads, those bass explode on it. Just a great lure. I've been eye-balling that bait for a while - I think I'm going to snag a couple and see what happens - should be fun. Thanks A-Jay 1 Quote

Thanks A-Jay A-Jay, Here is a trick that I learned with that lure that doesn't seem to be as effective with a standard frog. I would work the bait into a position where the nose of the mouse is just resting on a lily pad and the backend and tail are in an opening. I would then just quickly shake my rod tip, which results in the quivering of the tail of that mouse while in place (frog tentacles just don't quiver as well as that rubbery tail). I have had bass just explode on that mouse as it quivered there. The technique literally doubled my strike rate, as I think the not so active bass get active as they see this mouse queeveing on the surface. 1 Quote

C0lt Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 My favorite is definitely the pad crashed. Color doesn't really matter, the only thing that matters is the color of the frogs belly. Black has been working the best for me. Quote

I used that same frog for years, color and all. I switched to booyah pad crasher a couple years ago. They work just as well for me, but last A LOT longer Quote
MT2 Posted July 1, 2014 Author Posted July 1, 2014 I use the pad crashers some as well, as well as both Ish's and Bobbys frogs by Snagproof. Actually just ordered a R2S Bully Wa....but when the fish are not that aggressive or if Im fishing with someone and they seem to be catching and for whatever reason Im not.....Its time to break out the Natty Red Spro. I fish a local refuge alot that as the summer goes on the duckweed gets thicker and thicker hanging over tons of coontails...So finding that perfect frog for that place I think is next to impossible because depending on wind and rain that has came through the thickness can vary alot from trip to trip. I just keep adding more frogs. Quote

The bass see nothing else Incorrect. The bass can easily see the sides of the lure, and depending on the style frog and the way it sits in the water, part of the back as well. Only a bass directly underneath and looking straight up will see only the belly. Quote

You are correct sir... i mainly fish with the 2 bigger sizes. They are great frogs that can handle a beating... Also... Dick's are selling LT frogs for $7.99 that's $3 cheaper than BPS !! 1 Quote

After crossing an open hole, he parks the head of the frog on a lily pad, then twitches the skirt of the frog over the opening. Roger Quote
jtharris3 Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 I've been using the Booya Pad Crasher in Swamp Frog and Leopard Frog and the KVD Sexy Frog in Spring Frog. The Pad Crashers have been out fishing the KVD frog by a large margin. I have other frogs as well but, since buying the Pad Crashers they're getting the most water time. 1 Quote
gobig Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Bobbys perfect by Snagproof with a few mods is hands down the best frog I have ever fished. It is one of the harder frogs to fish but when you get it down it flat out performs. In fact I am probably going to sell off my spros. I also like the R2 sea spittin wa when it comes to popping frogs. Quote
