ZhouNi Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 i need all the help i need on this one, just got a 899 si but this is my fist SI transducer uni. i have a 2013 nitro z6, i dont have a jack plate. i think i cant trim my motor all the way down without interfence with the transducer. the lowest i can get the motor is 3/4 trim. new photo after installed, turn out to be fairly clean job i think. only have 2 drill 2 hole at the transome and two for the ram mount that will be here in the morning.. what do u guys think. one more thing, does the button all light up on the 899 or just the one that is shown on the pic Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted July 1, 2014 Super User Posted July 1, 2014 Yes, that is the best location for the SI transducer. You also need a shoot-thru XP 9 20 transducer for high speed depth readings since the SI transducer will be out of the water when on plane. You connect the SI transducer and the shoot-thru transducer to the display with the AS SIDB Y cable. You will have to trim out some to get left side SI pulse clearance when scanning at idle speed. The mount bracket should be level side-to-side, you have it tilted. You will probably have to use the lockdown screw to keep the mount from tripping due to water pressure when coming off plane , Do not overtighen the mount screws as that will cause the mount to break. Use the cable clamps to secure the cable and transducer in case the mount does break, so the prop won't eat the transducer. Quote
ZhouNi Posted July 1, 2014 Author Posted July 1, 2014 As for the high speed depth reading I have my lowrance mark 5 that came with the boat when I brought it. So. There is just no way around without a jack plate that my motor have to be trim up while idling, without interfering with the pulse? Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted July 2, 2014 Super User Posted July 2, 2014 It doesn't take much trimming up for that model SI transducer. It's only 4" long. You just need enough clearance for the left side SI pulse to "see" past the lower unit. At idle speed, if the top of your motor is level, that is probably enough. 1 Quote

Did this installation give you a good picture? Trying to decide hummingbird or lowrance. It mainly boils down to being able to mount a transducer. The Length of a Lss-2 maks the installation hard on this boat. Quote
