I'm going to purchase another reel, I recently purchase one of the T3 Ballistic from TW. For $109.00 I can get a Tatula regular not the R for $103.00. Is the tatula just as good? Is it as smooth as the Ballistic? or should I just get another Ballistic. I would like to try the Tatula but if the Ballistic is a better reel may as well just get another one.

Theoretically speaking the Ballistic is a better reel and at that price it´s a no brainer.

I've got the tat r and T3b. The T3 casts farther, palms a little better, and has more braking adjustments but the Tatula is better in every other way for me in everyday fishing situations. It feels more solid and better made, much more powerful retrieve, and has a better t wing system.

I cant speak on the T3, But I do own 1 Type R and 2 100 model Tatula's and I absolutely love them.

I have the T3B and the Tatula, and prefer the Tat for everything except topwater walking baits (spooks, sammys, etc) and jerkbaits because of the palming. Other than that the Tatula is the way to go IMO.

Note: If you put a different handle on the T3B it transforms the reel. Makes winding so much easier. I actually put my Tatula handle on my T3B and love it. I'm going to put a HawgTech handle on my Tatula soon

The Tatula has 20 on the adjuster. Does the T3 have more than that?

Its got the 3d system with max brake, all around, and long cast. So you have basically 60 settings to choose from in conjunction with the 20 click's on the mag dial.

If there is a way to be able to hold one first do so, the ergonomics may not work for you. I thought this was going to be the reel I've wanted Daiwa to make since the Advantage but once I palmed it I was immediately disappointed. It is probably a very good reel but it feels really wide, it is like how some can't stand the bulge on Quantum reels. I palm my reels in my left hand and my thumb sits across the top diagonally I guess and it rest on the other side of the frame, but on the Tatula it doesn't make it and my thumb is left on the spool unless I reposition it which doesn't feel natural.

I didn't like the feel of the T3 and personally I did not like all the extra moving parts of the casting system.  I have a Tatula and a Tatula Type-R and absolutely just love them.  It is going to come down to personal preference.

I have both and I feel that the Tatula is much better

I have both. Put a 90mm handle /w different knobs on the ballistic and I would choose the T3 every time. both stock though, it would be tough. I really like the t3Bs and 1016s but i hate the ballistic handle. If you don't have a tatula as of yet, i'd get one if I were you. It is a great reel.

You realize the Tatula has extra moving parts related to the TWS and the T3 has no additional moving parts compared to a non TWS reel.  The Tatula's TWS is more mechanically complex than the T3 but is hidden from sight.

The Tatula is still the better reel because it's not a plastic abomination like the T3B.  The T3B feels like sub $60 reel in your hands where as the Tatula feels so much nicer.
