JW Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 I'm an old r/c airplane kit builder and fairly new bass fisherman with lots of patience. I saw some lure kits advertised in the Cabelas catalogue. What's the advantage of building your own lures? Is it cheaper, or is it for satisfying that desire that some have to assemble something? Thanks much, JW Quote
Will Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 You can customize them to how you want, and satisfaction. Catching fish on something I built is always exciting. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 you can usually build it cheaper then buying it. Or you can put better hooks on the bait instead of replacing them on a new bait once you get it. Quote
ominousone Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 I think making your own baits is for people who like to save money, like tinkering, want to make a specialized lure, or have ice on their lakes all winter like I do. Really I think all of the afformentioned reasons are valid, and everyone who does it has their own combination of all of those things. Quote
