First post here, been lurking for a month or so and just started angling for about a month now.\

I'm sorry if this is the wrong spot for this, if it is can a mod kindly move it instead of deleting it that would be appreciated.

Anyways I have been fishing this slow moving bayou with a pond that is next to it. I have never caught anything in the pond but in the bayou I have caught a few (3) bass. In the bayou I see some big bass hop off the water and also see these other massive fish (like 5-7lb) with slightly orange tails, not sure what they are. There's catfish in it too

The water is murky brown, Cant even see half a foot deep. Its a slow moving current. And its only about 6ft deep and thats near the middle.

I have caught the bass with 5 1/2in brown with red specks texas rigged swim senkos (3/16 bullet weights) on 10lb test braided line. They werent as big as the fish I have seen in it but enough to keep me coming back. The past 3 days though I havent caught a thing. I tried using some other lures like a dark chatter bait with a black grub tail trailer, spinnerbaits, and rubber crawdads and normal senko's.. Sill nothing. I seem to only have gotten fish that first day I went up there....

Here is a  picture of the part of the bayou I am fishing

I normally spend most of the time far left where there is a little stream. There is an eddy next to it and I generally cast around there since I have only caught fish there. But would it be worth while to try some other spots? I see fish flopping around further down and cast around there sometimes but still nothing. Should I try using something else?  Any other tips you all could share would sure be nice as this is the only spot within driving distance that I can fish and I sure enjoyed catching them on that first day.

Also here is a pond thats within walking distance to the bayou. I fished it one day but didnt catch a thing. I dont even know if fish are in it. What spots should I try to fish from? Any tips?

You should throw a lot of black and red in there.  Greens, Browns, Reds, Blacks, Chartreuse and sometimes White with a mixture of one or 2 of those colors.  Craws and creature baits, long worms and jigs, lots of jigs.  Use scented baits or get some kind of spray on attractant, preferably crayfish scent.

The fish you are seeing with orange tails are probably grass carp or mirror carp.  If you see them, try and fish away from them, bass don't like them very much.

Ok thanks. I'm going to forsure try some swim jigs next time I go out there. And I wouldent doubt that bass dont like em. I saw a whole lot of them where I was at yesterday....

Siebert jig with rage trailer with the tips dipped in some jj's magic. Maybe a gamma craw or black and blu. You might try some frog action early and late in the day or a nice loud rattle crankbait maybe a squarebill for the shallower water

Yes sir.  power fishing is more fun, good for covering water and picking off aggressive fish.  and fishing weightless soft plastics 'slow and low' can trick even finicky bass.  try both methods while covering lots of new water. i cover as much water as possible b/c i don't fish, i hunt fish.

If you are seeing them then they must be actively moving around.  I'd try a buzzbait or topwater popper early in the morning, late in the evening, or when its cloudy. Just keep throwing it around until you find some fish. If there's too many weeds then use a frog.

If its windy you could couple that with a spinnerbait as a one-two punch to try and locate some fish. After you find where the fish are holding you can fish a craw or worm or whatever you want.
