Wondering how this rod handles:

 

-lipless crankbaits (1/2 oz red eye shad & rattle traps)

 

-shallow to mid depth crankbaits (1/4 - 3/8 oz - most concerned about the 1/4 oz)

 

I can pair it with a citica 200e, curado 200e, or a curado 50e.

Planned on using braid being as this rod is moderate action.

I usually am throwing 3/8 and above baits but I don't think you'd be disappointed with this as your crank rod.

the 705cb is a fast action crankbait rod. It isn't fast like a jig/worm rod but it's faster than your typical crankbait rod. I personally don't like the graphite fast.

 

I use the 705cb glass. top half glass. bottom half graphite. rod fishes like a graphite fast rod until a fish loads up on it and then the glass action kicks in. it's a really special rod. 

 

rod is perfect for squarebills and lipless baits. 

 

As for 1/4oz, if you are throwing primarily 1/4 and 3/8 squarebills in open water, you won't like the 705(unless you want 1/4 lipless cranks...the 705 will throw those a mile). the 704 is much better suited for those baits. I can throw 1/4 oz squarebills on the 705 but I use 51 size shimano. 

 

I don't understand braid because its a moderate action but if you like braid, go for it. I prefer mono and fluoro depending on where I'm fishing. you won't have a problem getting a hookset /w a moderate action..

As Iabass said, the 4 power is probably better suited for those applications. I only own the 684 cb in that power as it is my primary jerkbait/popper setup. A 704 would probably do you better. I use my 705cb for almost all my moving baits as it is just that versatile.

Rod is my favorite I've found for fishing lipless baits especially in grass.  It has a great action for treble hooks in my opinion, it is not a glass rod but I feel glass vs. graphite is a preference deal. 

For shallow to mid depth cranks, for me it still works great.  Some may not agree and I don't blame them, after a couple trips casting a slightly lighter bait I think it is easy to adjust and get used to.  When it comes to a 1/4 oz bait the bait that comes to mind for me is the larger Luhr-Jensen Speed Trap, as far as I see it listed that is a 1/4 oz bait, this rod (with a curado 200e7 and 15 lb mono) casts that bait just fine.  I am of the preference that I would rather have a little bit harder time casting (less tip in the rod) and more control once a fish is hooked. 

As a sidenote, the 705cb can also be great for top water walking baits or poppers with braid, and with mono or fluoro it is my go to rod for large ripbaits (Pointer 128, magnum vision 110).

It is going to be primarily used for traps up to 1/2 oz. I was just hoping it could cast a 1/4oz bandit or bomber without too much trouble. Not a biggie.

I personally think it has great sensitivity with a trap.  If you yo yo them up on the from the bottom I personally think you will really feel the sensitivity, I throw mine on either fluoro or mono and can still rip it clean, I think the action of the rod is just right for keeping them hooked on trebles as well as having enough backbone to clear the weeds and come out clean when you run into them.
