Gulp Alive For Panfish

On a recent camping trip with the guys, I set down the bass gear to go after a pile of bluegill for the frying pan. We used simple slip bobber rigs to lift a bucketload of gills out of some near shore lillypads. Our winning baits for the weekend were from the Berkeley Gulp Alive series. I had one jar of "crickets" and one jar of "maggots" and they both performed incredibly well. As most of you know, the draw on these baits is the scented liquid that they are packaged in.

Unfortunately, I accidently spilled the jar that had the "maggots" and lost most of the fluid. I was was wondering if it was a good idea to pour of some of the "juice" from the cricket jar to fill in what I spilled or if I should just go and grab new cannister. Would this be mixing scents/flavors, or do all of the Berkeley Gulp jars come filled with the same stuff?

No Idea but I would sure give it a try regardless what some one else said just to see. It might not work, or it could be the same thing, but you might discover a secret weapon!! If you do before it becomes a secret, let us know if it becomes a super bait,,,,,the same,,,,,,or doesn't work,,,,,,,but I would find out before I just threw it out. I have found in a couple instances where I used Crappie nibbles Power Bait, together along with redworms that my fishing pardner was also using, and I was consistently getting more bites and averaging larger fish, he started using the nibles with redworms together and he started getting bites quicker and the fish were bigger than he was averaging on redworms alone. Hardly scientific evidence but hay, it worked that day. This is what fishing is all about. When I was Chartering on Erie me and other Captains would set around many many evenings coming up with stuff nobody ever used and making new riggs and lures and many of them became go to baits, the tackle stores are full of lures and rigging methods that came to life this way. You should never settle for what works but always experiment with new ideas in bait lures and rigging, many times the results are fabulous and when they are fishing is much more rewarding.

Sure you can. But walmart sells the refill bottle of juice for a few bucks. Will fill that jar many times. Make sure all of them are completely submerged in liquid or they will dry out and be useless. I believe its all the same juice. All of mine smell the same, 1" minnows, maggots, waxies, crickets, 3" minnows, 4" minnows, leeches, etc.
