zackdd99 Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 Someone gave me a brushhog one day we were fishing and i didnt use it. I went out to one of my regular fishing ponds and 3rd cast with texas rigged brush hog i caught a 6-7 lb bass. After that i feel there better then the babies but i know there popular.whats your preference between the two? Quote
Mccallister25 Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 I prefer the baby brush hogs. Iv thrown them on a skirtless 3/8 oz jig and caught fish on it. The regular sized hog might not catch as many fish as the slightly smaller version, but they would most likely all be quality fish. A 6-7# bass is a pretty good one IMO. If it aint broke, dont fix it. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 29, 2014 Global Moderator Posted June 29, 2014 I prefer the baby brush hog for T rigging and the full size for C rigging. If I'm after a big bite I'll fish the full size on a T rig though. 2 Quote
Super User Catt Posted June 29, 2014 Super User Posted June 29, 2014 Two lures I've never caught a bass on, Brush Hog & Chatter bait! Quote
Super User aavery2 Posted June 29, 2014 Super User Posted June 29, 2014 I fish the Brush Hog, not the Baby, 90% of the time. 1 Quote
TNRanger Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 Big brush hog catches big bass. I love it on a c rig. Quote

VegasFishing Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 Caught more fish with baby brush hog, especially on pressured water. I like regular hog in deeper water or late afternoon/evening. Both C-rigged. Caught the fish in my avatar on green pumpkin baby hog c-rigged. Quote
FrogTosser88 Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 How do you fish the c-rigged hogs guys?... just drag it or poppin it? Quote
TNRanger Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 How do you fish the c-rigged hogs guys?... just drag it or poppin it? Drag slow to the side until you find brush. Stop and shake a little then slowly hop/drag over brush. Quote
Super User eyedabassman Posted June 29, 2014 Super User Posted June 29, 2014 You can fish a Brush Hog ANYWHERE! Deep water skinny water pads, slop ect. I like the Brush Hog and i catch bass of many size's. But I like the Baby in the spring or after a front.. I fish them on a C-rig,T-rig, skirtless jig, as a jig trailer, split shot rig, mojo rig. And color can be a factor!!!!!!! Quote
Super User Maxximus Redneckus Posted June 29, 2014 Super User Posted June 29, 2014 I use the baby and tiny and both yeild me the same results bass the same size Quote
VegasFishing Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 How do you fish the c-rigged hogs guys?... just drag it or poppin it? Slow sideways drag 1-3 feet, pause, repeat. Remember, the hookset is a sideways sweep as well. Quote
Super User Raul Posted June 30, 2014 Super User Posted June 30, 2014 Real men fish with Brush Hogs, we are after real fish aren't we ? 1 Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted June 30, 2014 Global Moderator Posted June 30, 2014 Real men fish with Brush Hogs, we are after real fish aren't we ? Yeah Buddy! As I posted on another thread my pb was on the standard size brush hog. It's one of my top 5 plastics. T rig, C rig, or Fla rig in sparse cover, doesn't matter. The only time I wont throw it is flippin into heavy cover for obvious reasons. The only time Ive had any success with the baby is when the water turns cold (by Fla standards) but even then I've had success just cutting back or cutting off entirely the middle tail of the standard size. Super User Raul Posted June 30, 2014 Super User Posted June 30, 2014 Jig and Brush Hog as trailer, my number one big bass bait. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted June 30, 2014 Super User Posted June 30, 2014 I like brush hogs in open water with a c-rig. I use baby brush hogs in cover with a t-rig. Quote
Primus Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 My experience is that the Baby is better for numbers but the full size is great for big fish . Quote
mcgreggor57 Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Jig and Brush Hog as trailer, my number one big bass bait. Just tried that combo this weekend. A definite winner for sure! Quote

dday07 Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Fish the baby during the day and larger one at nite for bigger target Quote
kfelton0002 Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 I love the baby brush hogs in the black with red flake. For some reason the bass where I fish burn them up. They won't touch a full sized brush hog. Quote
Melvin Savage Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 I love the big brush hog catch nice size bass off it Quote
Super User Log Catcher Posted April 28, 2019 Super User Posted April 28, 2019 I usually use the Baby Brush Hog on a T rig.Have caught a lot of fish on it. About the only time I use a Brush Hog is in murkier water. Have not caught that many on it. Mine are always T rigged. I haven't used a C rig in years. Quote
yosef Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 Baby brush hog in sprayed grass or baby bass is my favorite soft plastic for my lake I use them as Texas rig and on jigs ....I’m fishing very clear water about 10+ feet visibility on sunny days Quote
