buzzbait4me Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 Hey guys, Tomorrow I will be fishing for the first time on my new kayak. I'll be fishing a small creek here in central pa. What baits would be good to use for smallies in a small creek? Also any tips for my first kayak trip would help. Thanks Quote
Super User Darren. Posted June 29, 2014 Super User Posted June 29, 2014 Well, first, have a great time and be safe on the water. PFD is a must 100% of the time. Don't paddle without wearing it!! I don't have a lot of smallie experience, but I caught many when I was on a vacation via same tactics I use for large mouth bass fishing. Mostly soft plastics, finesse worms on a wacky rig, a couple caught on small cranks. Quote
WV Mojo Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 Gitzit tubes work great for stream smallies. Natural colors if the water is clear. Vary the retrieves to see what the fish want. Quote
buzzbait4me Posted June 30, 2014 Author Posted June 30, 2014 Ended up with 3 decent smallies on a small rooster tail. Water was pretty muddy and moving faster than normal. Still a fun day though. Quote
