bassinOUT89 Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 Just wondering if it's legal to fish on the side of the turnpike here in south florida?. I've seen people doing it from time to time. Quote
Super User BassinLou Posted June 28, 2014 Super User Posted June 28, 2014 Just wondering if it's legal to fish on the side of the turnpike here in south florida?. I've seen people doing it from time to time. That's a good question. The fish in my avatar was caught on a turnpike retention pond. 3 min after that pic was taken, I was run off by FHP. There are no visible signs on those retention ponds. The ones they don't want you around on,have high fences around them. Its obvious there is no fishing allowed there. I asked a FWC officer shortly after that incident, and the officer said he doesn't understand why I was asked to leave. Me personally... since after that experience I have not returned and nor will I again. Unfortunate too, because that pond had some pigs in it. Quote
bassinOUT89 Posted June 28, 2014 Author Posted June 28, 2014 Alright, thanks Lou. I don't want any trouble with the law. I wonder if it is a safety issue. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted June 29, 2014 Super User Posted June 29, 2014 I don't know if it's legal or not, I would think there is a safety hazard that police my frown on. Whether it's crossing on foot to get there or parking your car on the side (after you pay the toll, lol) there is traffic to contend with. Quote
Super User MCS Posted June 29, 2014 Super User Posted June 29, 2014 They are some great looking ponds on 95 from Jax to Daytona, however I am with snook and Lou. I rather not put myself or anyone else in danger nor deal with the highway patrol. They have more important things to deal with than chasing a fisherman away from a pond. Quote
Gotfishyfingers? Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 Ya, it's considered trespassing if your fishing, walking etc along the highway. Most/all entrance ramps have a sign that say no trespassing as well. I've seen FHP and marine patrol give out warnings/tickets to people fishing under the bridges along alligator alley to. Quote
LMB KING Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 I asked a fwc and a sheriff this question and they told me no, But i don't trust none of them because some will say something and some will say something else. Quote
