I've used berkly cherrywood rods that are 20$ and they are decent but I wanna try something new.... I would prefer a 6'6 or 7'0 medium power moderate/fast action rod for squarebill crankbaits. Quote

Powell Diesel Glass. Don't worry about the MH power rating or fastness in its action because it's made from fiberglass and this apparently endows the blank with some sort of crankbait magic. Quote
timsford Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 I have a powell deisel spinning rod i really like but havent tried the crankbait model. The only thing some people scare away from is there is no warranty on these rods. I will say the one i have performs way above the 55 dollars i gave for it and it would probably cost a lot more if they had warranties as not everyone is as careful with their rods as me lol. The bps crankin stick is another good rod in your price range and if something happens it can always be returned to bps. The lightning rod shock is a very good rod for the price. It isnt marketed as a cranking rod but has a soft tip for braided lines and worked great for a cranking rod. i really liked mine until i saved up and bought a better one. I dont know that the action is any better for cranking but i just had to try one of the tatulas. Go figure that darn bait monkey was at it again. The shocks are a little heavy though. I also own a couple of the skeet reese cranking rods and they can be had in your price range. I use my 6'6" quite a bit in ponds for shallow and medium divers and actually think its a darn good rod i just hate the yellow. The 7'11" skeet rod i bought for 65( same as the 6'6" off tw ive only used twice. Darn thing feels like it weighs 10 pounds and still havent found a reel to balance it. I have quite a bit of experience with lesser priced cranking rods if you can tell lol. Id have to reccomend the bps crankin rod or the lightning rod shock out of the ones i have tried only because of the warranties but if no warranty doesnt scare you the deisel would be a great all around cranking rod just dont shut it in a door unless you wanna throw away 50 bucks 1 Quote

It was a great rod and handled baits with treble hooks perfectly. And I think it the best cranking rod in the $50-$100 price range I loved the rod so much that it led me to buy many other powells. I still use it time to time but I uprgraded it to a Powell Endurance Cranking Rod 725 and I have a hard time putting that one down lol Quote
