Well I got a new job doing lawn work and its good and all but I just had a really long day yesterday of the normal stuff carrying heavy equipment and what not, and its got my arms really sore.

I've got this spasm in my arm that's been bothering me all day today, its a little jolt that happens every few seconds right above my elbow in my left bicep that feels like a little shock. Anybody know what could cause this and if there is anything I can do to get it to go away faster?

Oh and by the way it didn't start bothering me immediately after work, it was after I woke up the next morning

Hopefully itll go away in atleast a few days, but only time will tell.

it is probably from over use and your body is just getting used to the physical aspect of the job.  the other thing it could be is dehydration so make sure you are drinking enough water and even some gatorade throughout the day as that will also help.

Not sure what type of job you had before, but you could be using muscles in your arms that you have never really used before.  With any type of lifting, you use all sorts of different muscles, that cause spasms (and keep hydrated like flyfisher said).  It's quite normal.  I've had a desk/computer job where I wear a suit all day, so when I do manual labor...I am a big wuss.  Had to help my brother move about 20 packages of siding for his new house.  This was 4 days ago.  My back (muscles) is still jacked up...and when I go golfing for the first time of the year.  My sides, and arms experience the same spasms you mentioned.  My belly keeps getting bigger every year.

I'm a sports guy and I've ran cross country and wrestled for a few years now and we train pretty hard and I've never had these weird spasms...

I guess I've never held a weedeater this long before ethier haha its probably something I'll just get used to...

Everyone that works out knows that the day after the day after is when the soreness is the worst... I just hope its not the case with these spasms

You isolated a muscle you have rarely used. That's a good thing. Kinda cool how that works aint it? It will be sore for a couple of days, then it will stop aching. Im not saying you are not fit. Your just using muscles you didn't know you had.

You also were probably holding the weed whacker in a way that has the muscles being used partially and not fully extended or retracted which can do it too.  You can also think of it as doing a ton of reps with little weight.  Kind of like when i explain people that cycling is doing about 20,000 squats at half of your body weight over the course of a ride.

it most likely is a twitch and not a spasm.  hyperexcitable bicep if you will from over use and dehydration.

Easy way to fix it, drink water and stretch using your triceps muscle.  Do some triceps exercises and see if that removes it quickly.

A muscle spasm is a muscle's way of expressing insult (Hey, I'm not used to this!)

Nothing at all to be concerned about, in fact, not using your muscles is the bigger concern.
