mrmacwvu1 Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 So last night at three in the morning my sister's house caught on fire. I am on vacation in Florida. I am 17 hours away. I feel like there is nothing that I can do. However at 7 this morning I start getting calls from my family saying that people are just showing up to help her. These are my fishing and golfing buddies just doing anything and everything they can. I am sitting here crying my eyes out realizing how blessed I am. Only 1 out of my 6 buddies that showed up had ever met my sister. I have always tried to help a friend in need. It is just amazing when you love your fellow man when you are at your weakest and lowest how they seem to come to the rescue. I would just like to take the time to say thank you to all of you that post here. Although I have only met a handful of you guys I consider you all friends. 6 Quote

Hyrule Bass Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 thats great that youve surrounded yourself with good people you can depend on in time of need and tragedy. a little over a month ago, i lost my 39 year old sister to a single car accident. she left behind a husband and 6 and 9 year old girls who now have to grow up without mommy. this was in NC, i had to take off a little over a week of work and go down there. the whole week just overwhelmed me and the rest of the family with how many people helped out and offered support. even people who knew my sister but never really hung out with her. people brought more food and drinks and utensils and the likes through the door than you can imagine, mostly good home cooking too. it was just amazing really. it also helped get through a very tough week for all of my family. some of my friends said she was like the sister they never had. i have a friend who drives trucks drop his load and transfer it to another driver to come and offer me support. most of my life long friends are in nc just to clarify. i guess im just trying to say, it truely is a blessing when youre surrounded by great people who wont hesitate to lend a helping hand in a time of need or tragedy... Super User K_Mac Posted June 26, 2014 Super User Posted June 26, 2014 I have found over the years that I often take things for granted and don't really count my blessings much when things are going well. It takes something negative for me to see how truly blessed I am. I think this is true for most of us. mrm I'm glad that there were folks there to help take care of things and that no one was hurt. Red Earth I'm sorry for your loss and will pray for your sister's family. 1 Quote
speed craw Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 Sorry for your sister's family , my prayers are with your family . For your friends , that is what you call someone genuine friends . I have probably 4 friends like that the others are just acquaintances . You don't have those on every corner , count your blessings that you have them . Quote
