I've got to go to walmart today to get some senkos and some more worm hooks.  I was also, wondering what other baits might be good to buy.  Most of the time when I go, I either use a senko or a lizard.  I have caught a couple bass on a blue and white shallow crank bait.  In my tackle box I've got a buzzbait, a spinnerbait, a topwater torpedo(green top/yellow bottom), topwater devil horses(what my dad calls them), and really I think thats about it.  Anything else that would come in handy.  My buddy and I are taking his boat out tomorrow and we normally just troll around the edges and throw towards the bank and fish like that.  Should I/we be fishing in the open water (I guess like in the middle of the lake/reservoir)?

try some swim jigs or if you can't get those just swim a football head or other type of jig. Find the ledges and bounce the jig from shallow to deeper water. The bass are going deeper this time of year so you gotta figure out what depths they are at. A jig is a great tool for that. Good luck.

I 2nd the swim jig suggestion. Maybe a variety of soft plastics to go with the jigs. Was going to suggest senkos before opening the thread, I love senkos and have had great luck with them.

If you fish near the banks a lot I'd get some more shallow square bill crankbaits. They are killer in shallow cover.

I may throw the shallow crank bait that I have. I went to walmart after work and got some watermelon red flake senkos, some 3/0 EEG hooks, a strike kind black and blue jig( I assume it's kinda weed less since it has some hard brush like things in front of the hook), and some black and blue chunk tails

You'll be surprised just how weedless a jig is....

Sorry, I wasn't being sarcastic, jigs can come through some pretty nasty stuff but you will lose a couple here and there....
