masterbass Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 I fish the ohio river in pittsburgh and I have to say this is the worst fishing I've seen. Very few smallies, white bass, hybrids, sauger and walleye. I'm not sure if the extremely cold winter did something, but it's been really tough. Does anyone else fish the ohio river notice the tough fishing? Quote
S_Miketa6 Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 It's been awful for me to. Biggest weight in a tournament I've seen around where I fish has been like 7lbs. Hard to believe especially since me and my friend went out there last season and caught a few 15lb bags.... Currents to fast and the water is chocolate milk. I can't figure it out this year. Quote
smallieking Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Its always awful... its the ohio river. lol I fished ten mile twice this year and it fished the same as previous years. I never fish the ohio cause its just too tough, tournaments I have on the rivers, I venture up the Allegheny because that's the only river of the three I can get a 2 pound bite. What part of the ohio produces a 15 lb bag!? I find that extremely hard to believe someone caught multiple 15lb bags. the pa bass federation state classic on the rivers was won with 13 lb and that was 10 fish over two days. Quote
masterbass Posted June 26, 2014 Author Posted June 26, 2014 When I started fishing the ohio 3 years ago, I caught lots of smallies, but nothing bigger than 3lbs. But I also used to get tons of sauger and walleye. Even last year I could spend a few hours with a grub and jighead and catch 30 sauger/eyes, white bass, and a few smallies. This year something is definitely not right. Quote
