Mccallister25 Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 I went out this afternoon after the rain we had in NC and started fishing a weedline at one of my local ponds. I landed three on a jig, and decided to throw my shallow A around the weeds to give em something to chase. Im not a crankin guy at all lol. Iv caught maybe 4-5 quality fish on crankbaits in the few years Iv been seriously fishing.. Id much rather fish bottom contact baits, but anyway; I landed three more on the shallow A, but it had me questioning how to use the lure. For the guys who use these, and have a lot more experience; are you working the lure just under the surface to where you can see a "V" in the water as you work it back, or is it a more productive bait sub-surface, with some kind of cadence (stop and go, etc)? PondHopper96 Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Sometimes I'll fish it like a jerk bait! Other times just burn it, I do the subsurface thing sometimes! I'm not a huge crank guy though! Quote
Super User tcbass Posted June 25, 2014 Super User Posted June 25, 2014 How were you catching them? Quote
Mccallister25 Posted June 25, 2014 Author Posted June 25, 2014 Two grabbed it before I really had time to think about it, and the third was foul hooked through the eyeball. Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted June 25, 2014 Super User Posted June 25, 2014 If you in more open water try a stop and go, if your in an area with lots of hard cover try to bang and bump them off the cover to get strikes. Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted June 25, 2014 Super User Posted June 25, 2014 These are similar to a Manns 1 minus and the Storm sub wart and I like to fish them fast over tops of weeds and over shallow rock flats. The "v" wake is better done with a Bomber long A, on a slow steady retrieve the tighter action allows the bait to make a wake where the shallow running cranks make more of a bulge. Quote
