MIbassin Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 What is your favorite cover or structure to fish? Around here, i have some lakes with giant moss beds mixed with sand bars. The moss sits right on the bottom and only grows a couple of inches. MONSTER bass roam these moss beds and sandbars in the low light hours! I also love to fish the pads. What about you? Quote
Brian Needham Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 the ones they're on!!!!! but mostly ledges with massive shellbeds 2 Quote
Super User Jar11591 Posted June 24, 2014 Super User Posted June 24, 2014 My favorite structure to fish is overhanging limbs and/or downed trees. Can't pass a log or branch without tossing to it a couple times. Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted June 24, 2014 Super User Posted June 24, 2014 Around here its fun fishing around Cyprus trees and the cyprus knee systems under the water surrounding the trees Quote
long island basser Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Here on Long Island with our shallow lakes there's not much structure but plenty of cover. My two favs are laydowns and lily pads. 1 Quote
Big Fish Rice Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 For cover, flipping/pitching lily pads. For structure, I love fishing jigs around rocks. Big fish baits! Quote
OntarioFishingGuy Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Docks with a fluke and rocks with a football jig Quote
BigmouthForever23 Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Points + dropoffs (weeds below surface a bonus). Quote

Super User RoLo Posted June 24, 2014 Super User Posted June 24, 2014 That would depend, firstly on the species sought, secondly on the waterbody in question, and thirdly on the current season. On balance, I've found that a good rule-of-thumb is what I've dubbed the 'priority of poverty'. That is to say, if you're on a canyon reservoir, the value of shelf areas goes through the roof. If you're in a featureless saucer-shaped natural lake, the value of deep water and drop-offs are at a premium. The fact that there is no structural holy grail only adds to the challenge Roger Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted June 25, 2014 Super User Posted June 25, 2014 #1 Grass.....milfoil to be exact #2 boat docks #3 lay downs Quote
Mccallister25 Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 The few neighborhood ponds I fish dont have a lot of visable structure/cover, so Id have to say maybe rocks for me, and the occasional tree in the water when Im lucky enough to have one in pitching distance. Quote
papajoe222 Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Rocky hump or submerged island or the same structure with grass. If there aren't any, give me a rip-rap shoreline. Quote
Paul s Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Pads and grass/the thickest crap I can find, submerged timber, rocky bottoms. Quote
Super User WRB Posted June 25, 2014 Super User Posted June 25, 2014 Whatever the big girls are on or in. Tom 2 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 25, 2014 Global Moderator Posted June 25, 2014 Rocks are my security blanket, I feel safe when I'm fishing rocks I love fishing smaller docks too, but hate trying to fish the large, commercial docks, unless that's where the fish are Quote
Balshy Fishing Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 See, I never think about throwing under these docks when I go to the lakes and what not. Guess that's what happens when ya bank fish all the time; I forget to check things RIGHT along the side. Quote
TrippyJai Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Shallow water grass is my favourite. I also enjoy rocks. Quote
boostr Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 I have had success recently with laydowns and stumps. Quote
