masterbass Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 I have the world fishing network and some of the shows are based in England. It seems like all their fishing tournaments are for carp and suckers. They use some really strange gear. Don't they have bass there? Quote
J BASS Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 I will ask our sales manager as I cannot remember....I know he caught his 1st bass with me 10 years ago.. Quote
starcraft1 Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Spain, France, W. germany, Itialy, S. Africa, S. Korea, but I don't reminder catching any in England. Carp and pike are the biggest tourney draws in Europe, bass have a small growing window there. I read somewhere that Russia has a bass plan to stock some of their more southern lakes(?) but pike are there biggest game fish. Huge big rubles to made at two of there touraments on there largest lake. 48 hrs. - 3 teams - 8 hrs. each team. The boats would scare the heck out of you concidering the size of the fish and weather they fish in. The reason i got to fish so many countries is the Army. I had a job that took my Captain and myself all over Europe. S. Africa I read about, check it out for yourselves on line. Interesting fishing, stay off the banks! Your not on the top of the food chain! Quote
tatertester Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Hawaii is the one that intrigues me....You would think it would be near perfect habitats for bass, but only see a few references to bass fishing there? Quote

tatertester Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 I think they have both bass species, but, I have only seen photos of smaller fish caught there? Quote
Super User Raul Posted June 24, 2014 Super User Posted June 24, 2014 Hawaii state record LMB: 9 lbs 9.4 oz Quote

I have heard that almost all the bass waters are private lakes with access limited to land owners. Quote
tatertester Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Dwight, I did some looking about on the net, and, appears you are correct. Very limited number of natural lakes. Quote
Tim Kelly Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 No bass in the UK unfortunately. Costs me a fortune to go and catch them! There are rumors that the US airmen stocked a couple of ponds on their air bases over here during the war, but as nobody's ever shown any evidence of it, I don't think it's true. If it was true, they all died out. Believe me, if the government agency in charge of our waterways ever allowed them to be stocked the British anglers would find the dullest way imaginable of catching them, probably involving camping and definitely involving bait. Fishing with artificials is a minority interest over here. Most people want to sleep and be woken up by a fish hooking itself! Sad but true. Quote
Super User Raul Posted June 27, 2014 Super User Posted June 27, 2014 Doesn't Hawaii also have Peacocks? State record 11 lbs 12.13 oz. Quote

A friend of mine from Italy claimed that thats how bass were stocked in Italy, by US serviceman in WW2. Really doesn't make sense though, think of the logistics involved, I cant see how they would manage it. Quote
Tim Kelly Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 I think it is just one of those urban myths. However, in the days of the British Empire they managed to stock brown trout in the Himalayas and other parts of India. Apparently they took fertilized eggs packed in damp moss all that way by boat and maybe train, then horseback. Those trout still survive and thrive, well their descendants! Quote

I am telling you! I know first hand so much... Hey I got some story's from my years in!!!! Quote
