Anyone have any thoughts ( good / bad ) on the St.Croix MOJO BASS rods. Just picked up a 7'6 medium heavy rod this week. Haven't had a chance to use it yet...

My only experience was trying a friends mojo bass for about 20 minutes. It sure felt nice, but to me it seemed heavier than the rating. I believe it was the 7' mh/f spinnerbait rod but felt stiffer.

They aren't the lightest or most sensitive rods out there but they're very durable and I never had any problems catching fish with mine.

I have the spinnerbait (7'MHF). decent rod, but it is tip heavy unless you put a 9oz reel on it.

Picked up a 7' MH Moderate for deep cranking a few weeks ago and like it so far!

I've got a few of them and really like them. They aren't as light or as sensitive as the higher end St. Croix sticks, but they are very well built! I've thrown mine some pretty harsh abuse and have had zero issues.

If you really want one for deep cranking, check out the 7' 8" MH/M "Big Crankster". It's a really nice rod that will launch a deep crank a long ways and fishes them with ease. I was pretty amazed how much a difference it made in my ability to feel what my bait was doing. Handled bass up to 7.5 pounds on it so it'll haul the big girls in too.

I have a 6'8" Medium xf MBS68MXF and hate it. I bought this to replace a Daiwa rod that I broke the tip on. I have caught many fish with it but didn't feel a single one hit the Senko. It will be for sale real soon.....

They are one of the better built rods in the price range they occupied, but there are better performing rods for the same money, if that makes sense to you.

I used a Mojo Bass Frog rod for a few years. Loved it. Got a Cabelas Tournament ZX Frog rod and after using the two side by side I haven't picked up the Mojo since.

I found after comparing the two that the butt section was much too short on the Mojo. It felt like I was using an old pistol grip rod compared to the Cabelas. It also felt like a thick broom handle while the Cabelas rod which was also a heavy felt like a medium heavy. Plus, the Winn grips on the Cabelas rod are awesome.

I got the Cabelas Tournament ZX rods for $69 each on sale and they are usually $100 which isn't bad either. I'm sure they will go on sale again. I'd definitely look into the Tournament ZX if you're looking for a new rod.

I have the top water and slop n frog version. I love the top water. Super sensitive. The slop n frog is very heavy. Almost feels like an extra heavy. I personally love them though

Save your money and get a st. croix premier, avid, or fenwick elite tech smallmouth.
