John105 Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 I'm going to be fishing some deep, clear (visibility down to 15-20 ft), water areas with grass along the bottom. I've had some success reeling a Hudd weedless shad over the top of the grass, but I'm looking for other ideas to try. Are there other weedless swimbait options besides Huddlestons? Soft plastics are tough because using a bullet weight texas rig gets it caught up in the weeds too much for my taste. Thanks for the help! Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted June 24, 2014 Super User Posted June 24, 2014 keel weighted hook with soft plastic swim baits work for me in similar conditions but not quite as deep and they don't catch on the grass too much. 1 Quote
Super User everythingthatswims Posted June 24, 2014 Super User Posted June 24, 2014 Carolina rig so the bait doesn't go into the grass. 15-20ft visibility is crazy! Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted June 24, 2014 Super User Posted June 24, 2014 Drop Shot. Select a dropped length that allows your bait to stay above the grass. Light line & a smaller finesse type presentation often works well in clear water. A-Jay Quote
MIbassin Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 All the previous suggestions are great! One if my lakes is just like you described and my favorite bait is a natural bluegill colored swim jig with a keitech trailer Quote
