I got some trilene %100 fluorocarbon and all it does is coil I have it on a quantum KVD bait caster and when I cast it. It birds nest and I was wondering if there is a way to fix it (besides tightening the drag)

When you put it on, did you roll off the spool from over the top or under the bottom?  If you rolled from under the bottom, you will have to roll it back off the reel just like you took it off the spool, flip the spool over and hopefully you can go over the top and it fixes the problem.

Troll the line behind the boat for a few minutes (without anything on it....not even a clip). That will take out any twist that was on it. Then apply KVD Line Conditioner to the spool as you reel it back in. I usually spray the reel two or three times as I retrieve it that way. Tie on your favorite lure and go fishing. That should solve your problem.

Buy better line. You can troll it all out and reel it tighter on the spool, or use line conditioner, but it's going to coil up again. That line is known for having crappy memory and poor knot strength. Tightening the drag has nothing to do with casting. Have you experimented with the brake settings at all. Until you get proficient with a baitcaster, more braking will be necessary.

Use the Triline for backing and put 50 yards of braid on then tie a better F.C. as a leader. You might want to try SeaGuar or Halo.

What size line and reel are you using? I try to keep mono and fluoro under 10# on spinning tackle. Over filled spools tend to birds-nest more easily. Close the bail by hand to help avoid line twist, treat with KVD L&L use swivels where necessary. Trolling out the line after every trip (or as necessary)helps too. I prefer the line management, sensitivity and casting of braid but that's another post.

Grab some Seaguar Red Label and treat it with KVD L&L. Great line imo that won't break the bank.
