Super User Ratherbfishing Posted June 23, 2014 Super User Posted June 23, 2014 Shoot, If I were catching one fish for everyy 20 or 30 casts, I'd think I was in heaven and if so, I'd be listening to the angeles singing. Right on, brother! I wouldn't know what to do with myself if I caught fish that often. But no, I don't listen to music when I fish. How could I hear the mourning doves and bluejays and crows and the frogs and the cicadas and the bluegill smacking bugs on the surface and wind in the tree's, etc. if I had headphones on? I like music too but as ecclesiastes says, there's a season for everything and fishing has it's own music besides. 1 Quote

JaxBasser Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Music is one of my biggest loves in life besides fishing, I never listen while I am fishing though. I enjoy the silence. 1 Quote
Loop_Dad Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 When I am fishing, one of the two things are usually happening. 1. Thinking so hard where the fish are, and if I am not catching, what I should do to catch them 2. Monkey in my head is throwing some daily junk which I do not want to think about while fishing Either way I am busy in my head. Being bored does not happen to me while fishing. I get tired, yes, but not being bored. I do not need music. If I am doing some repetitive 'work' like delivering news paper, I might need music yes, but not while fishing. I say if you get bored, you are not 'that' into fishing. That's totally okay thou, everybody is different. When I take my daughter out and not catching fish, she gets bored quickly, but I think she still enjoys fishing when she catches one. Quote
Brian Needham Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 I do not object to listening to music while fishing....but NEVER with headphones. Quote
merc1997 Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 i most definitely use all my senses fishing. in fact, i do not like even a hood over my ears when it is cold. i know that i do not fish nearly as well when i do have to cover my ears up. bo Quote
Denea Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 I enjoy listening to nature when I go fishing. I would never listen to music, as to me, it defeats the purpose of being out on the water (or bank fishing). I like hearing the birds, water flowing through, and over rocks (creek/rivers), and most importantly the top water action you get when fishing with frogs. The explosion of the water is awesome. Quote
Super User Jeff H Posted June 24, 2014 Super User Posted June 24, 2014 I don't have the choice, but I wouldn't while fishing if I did. Quote
Nice_Bass Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 I listen to music on boat sometimes....loud as well at times. Usually not at dawn but at dusk I will have it on. No real reason for me to hear the gentle call of the pwc, the soothing slap of boat hull on waves, the soft cry of tubers, or the natural rumble of above water exhaust of large inboards. Quote
