Juan EP Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 My question is.... How far away does a Bass move after it has struck a moving bait? example, crank bait strike and you miss him. What are the chances of him still being close by after that happens? Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted June 22, 2014 Super User Posted June 22, 2014 Hello and welcome to BR ~ Depends, sometimes bass will hang around, other times they seem to move off. The popularity of a different "Throw Back Bait" or rig, indicates that is some cases, they can be convinced to strike at least one more time. A-Jay Quote
OroBass Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Yep or sometimes you can just kill your lure and they will come back. Quote
Mr. BattleArmor Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Nothing in fishing is definitive... sometimes they strike again, sometimes they don't. I've never noticed a consistent pattern. 1 Quote
Super User everythingthatswims Posted June 22, 2014 Super User Posted June 22, 2014 If you "roll" the fish and it feels your hook, come back an hour or two later. If you don't hit him with the hook and the bait comes flying back at you, just switch baits and they will usually bite again. If you fight the fish back to the boat and lose it, it might not bite again that day, just depends on how long you fought it. For example, if you fight a fish on 6lb test for a minute or so and the hook pulls, that fish will be much less likely to eat again than one that you hooked on a jig and had boatside after 3 or 4 turns of the handle before losing it. Then again, I fish a pond that has bass so stupid that you can release the fish, and cast to it when it is swimming away, it will bite again. 2 Quote
Tylertut Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 From my experience, if the bass has the hooks at all then chances of hooking it again are very very low. If they side swipe it and miss all hooks they might hit it again and will most likely hit another bait right away. Quote
