Kevin22 Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Its a marsh reed. Crappies will spawn in it, as well as shad. Good place to target early in the year. Quote

Super User RoLo Posted June 22, 2014 Super User Posted June 22, 2014 That's a great question, and I would also like to know. What state are we talking about, how deep is the water and do you know what the fruits or seedheads look like?My first thought was spikerush (Eleocharis), but spikerush usually isn't so dense and orderly. Kevin22 Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Why is it worse later in the season? Because every lake I have seen that looks like that has very clear water. With clear water the fish will go deep in the summer. Might be able to run the edges of that with a spook early in the morning and pick up a few roamers if you can get past the pike that love reeds.
